Dremel 120-Volt Engraver Rotary Tool with Stencils - Crafting Machine Perfect for DIY Personalizing and Engraving Leather, Metal, Glass, and Wood , Black, 290-02

For the last thirteen years I have engraved the dates of the Oregon rain inside on recycled light bulbs before they go into our gallery as Oregon Du Drops. I use the Dremel engraving tool (290-01) with a diamond-tip engraver (9929). It writes clearly, neatly, and rarely goes through the very thin glass of the light bulb. The only trouble I have ever had with it is a bit of difficulty loosening the tip when it gets dull. I wouldn't use any other engraver for this delicate job.

I got this tool today and just started using it and so far love it! My only question is, it is a little loud...is that normal or did I not put the set screw back in correctly?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While this is a great tool for engraving, you have to have a steady hand, took me some time you get the knack of it but for holiday ornaments, finally got the handle on it and really came out great . light weight, just keep your hand steady and don't push too hard

I have also used it to engrave medal metal and wood projects that turned out great. The precision of the engraving point is impressive. The ability to write out words in cursive and is legible is amazing. Great product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] after using the Dremel Engraver that I bought 40 years ago, it finally gave up. This newer version is as good or better that the original. Better fit in the hand, quieter and easier to use.

I got this as a Christmas gift from my wife. Its great for beginners. If your not a beginner, then get the Dremel 4000. The major problem I had with this engraver is that the horribly small screw that holds the bit in always falls out after a few minutes working with it. Other then that it works pretty well.

I love the engraver. The only thing is that when you first try to unscrew that tiny screw, it is very hard!
