[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My new Dremel 3100 has plenty of power. It runs at 5,000 to 35,000 RPM. It has a nice speed range that will allow you to complete many different types of projects. The included lawn mower blade sharpening attachment was very effective at ensuring a consistent angle while I sharped my old mower blade. I also used the sanding drum to smooth off and square up the end of a curtain rod that I had previously cut with a hacksaw. I highly recommend the Dremel 3100.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 3100 is exceptional hand-held power that is great for bringing out your creative side. The included accessories help you get up and going fast, then supported with a plethora of additonal tips from your local retail outlet. Get the variable speed allows you to dial in for the perfect cut. The included mower blade accessory is a must have to keep your blades in tiptop shape for tackling the yard.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dremel 3100 arrived with a small cadre of accessory bits for grinding, sanding, cutting, and polishing and I put both the tool and everyone one of the accessories through their paces. I am making a Legacy Train for my grandson from hardwoods, veneer and copper and I needed to be able to precision drill many holes in various materials and to cut, grind and polish many of the parts. The very first thing I noticed out of the box was the quality of the manufacture and how it was ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in your hand. It is also amazingly quiet for a 1.2 amp motor. The 3100 is compatible with all other Dremel accessories and fit easily into my drill press and router table. My 40 plus year old Model 270 is a single speed 30,000 RPM tool that has lasted forever with heavy use, but tends to damage drill bits and burn surfaces with accessory bits due to the fixed speed. The Model 3100 with its simple variable speed switch eliminated those problems. The only real down side is that it comes with a 1/8” collet to hold the bits. The quick-change sleeve makes changing that sized bit quick and easy, but does not allow for smaller drill bits, which require a three-jawed chuck (an accessory sold separately). Overall, the Model 3100 is a wonderful addition to my Dremel tool collection.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dremel Corded Rotary Tool is an absolute wonderful tool to have. The tool has a comfortable grip to fit well in most hands. The accessories are an absolute must. These are perfect for arts and crafts. Picture frames to toys. There's so much you can do.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Haven't had a much time to review this product as I would like due to having my back acting up over the last week more than usual. This unit feels more heavy than my old Dremel 380-5 which I've had well over 30 years. I like the way this unit is vented and the action of the power / speed switch. This unit will find a lot of work in my fabrication of parts and working on the making specialized tools. Over the years of owning Dremel products and accessories I've come to trust them to do many tasks that at times I thought might be beyond their capability and they have yet to fail me. A couple of examples are making guide studs for installing automotive oil pans and heads. Also designed and made a tool for removing and installing the axle lock indicator switch for my 4x4 truck.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great tool. Light, quiet and comfortable in hand with variable speed control. I used the cutting wheel to cut off nails coming through 2x4 in basement stairwell. Cut through nails quickly and easily. Then used sanding wheel to smooth out area. The dremel 3100 kit comes with many accessory's for different uses. Very convenient.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dremel 3100 is a very capable small, compact rotary tool. I tested its routing ability using a Dremel router attachment and a 1/8" helical router bit on hard walnut. It easily plunged to a 1/8" depth but was difficult to cut with a consistent depth or path. However, with the cut depth reduced to .07 inches it routed easily, consistently, and at a fair cut rate. I believe it would easily route much deeper in softer woods and may route better with a strait flute bit. I plan to couple the 3100 to a drafting arm to route while tracing a pattern. The only complaint I have is, the on/off switch is integrated with the speed control which requires setting the speed each time the tool is turned on.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently had the opportunity to test drive a DREMEL 3100, which is billed as an “all-in-one” starter kit. This item is lightweight and has fewer switches and dials than other models I've used, and that's ok. Biggest difference is the rpm gauge is built into the on-off switch, using a scale from 0-10. I like this simplicity! The tool bits and accessories are great for a beginner. The one thing I question is why Dremel chose to include the lawn mower sharpening attachment (675) in a starter kit. For a starter kit, I would prefer to see a spare set of carbon brushes. Nothing more frustrating being in the middle of a project and having to replace the brushes without a spare on hand. Overall a solid model and definitely a home run for beginners wanting to try out a Dremel for arts, crafts, home improvement projects and more.
Very displeased with the purchase of Model 3100. My issue with this unit is the product lacks sufficient information to use this tool in a safe and proper manner. There is literally zero information I can locate which discusses which attachments require what mandrels to operate the tool properly with the attachment of interest. Additionally, there is no information to be found in the fine instruction manual that discusses this or how do you install the attachment to the required mandrel. My cutting wheel I tried to install on one of the mandrels provided with the product shattered in pieces when I tried to install it to one of the mandrels that came with the product.Your website offers no help with this mystery. I can only guess safety is not important to you. I think it essential to inform your customers how to properly install the attachment (all of them) to the tool. As it stands now, I guess it's up to the customer how to figure out how to properly prepare this tool for use. My Dremel 3100 purchase has been a major disappointment. Seems you feel safety is not important to people who would like to use this tool safely.
I bought this model on Amazon to Upgrade my 15 year old model 200 that lost the high speed. Within 30 minutes of use, on and off, the speed control began acting up and within minutes the speed switch was completely shot. Just a loose switch with no tension. Some upgrade!
