I bought this to replace a 14 year old model. 375 i believe it was. I loved the size of the old one. But the motor finally went. The new one has started to see some use and i couldnt be happier with the purchase
I have always enjoyed rotary tools and switched from a competetor to this particular model Dremel. I have never been happier, it has the range I require for the different applications I use it for and always performs! The availability of parts and bits is fantastic. The only thing I dont like is how hot mine gets when I'm working. Still a great tool, I will suffice to say that the advantages trump my problem with the heat output.
I purchased the 4200 in July because I absolutely LOVE my older 3000 and 4000 models and have always been very satisfied with their performance and with Dremel (when they need to be repaired, it's never a hassle). Anyway, I bought the 4200 and for 2 weeks, everything was great. Then in the middle of a project, after I had been running it off and on for maybe 30 minutes I turned it off. When I came back to it about 45 minutes later, it wouldn't turn back on. The tool wasn't hot when I shut it off, and I checked the brushes...everything seemed fine. So I let it sit overnight and tried it again.....nothing. I returned it to the store and it exchanged it for another one, figuring maybe it was a fluke. But 3 days later the same thing happened to the new one. So I returned it and was asked would I like to exchange it for a third time. I declined. So I'm back to my 3000 model, but missing the power of that 4200. For Dremel's sake, I wish I had gotten around to writing this review sooner, but my 3000 is about to be dropped in the mail and sent for repairs. So while I was in here getting the address, I figured "What the heck, I'll do it now"
I purchased this in August and decided to use it for the first time tonight, it worked for 5 minutes then stopped. I read all the direction and did the warm up period I will be returning this. I should have read the reviews first but I trusted the name
I've had this 4200 for a few years now but I've only used it 3-4 times and it worked off and on until finally it just won't turn on at all. I have read that this could be the brushes but whether it is or it isn't, it should have worked much longer than it did.
my husband has been using dremel products for past 20 years, unfortunately this machine was purchased at end of november, my husband has used very occasionally during the past 3 weeks, 2 days ago he used for about a half hour & the machine stopped, doesn't even have the wear & tear which all the others were subjected too, and now is sounding like it needs a replacement, am VERY VERY disappointed with this machine, $200 later, as we also purchased a kit with it & some bits, and we now have to consider buying another, we have our receipt for the purchase of this item.
We bought this unit from McMaster a couple of months back and have used it intermittently. Yesterday the power switch decided to get stuck in the “OFF” position. At least if it had gotten stuck in the “ON” position I could continue to use it by plugging it in and unplugging it.
I bought this less then three months ago. Used it to sand down a wooden car with my daughter, and then it stopped working. Never got to use very many of the bits that came with it (and the reason why i purchased it). Extremely disappointed as my father has one that he has owned for years, and it is still working away.
I had to buy a new unit because my company provided one was stolen of a job site. I had to replace the tool and decided to upgrade to the 4200 because of the EZ feature. I did not open and try the 4200 after I purchased it to make sure it operated and that was a costly mistake. I didn't need to use the tool till I had to go on an emergency service call 6 months later at midnight 1.5 hours away. The unit worked for a total of 10 minutes. Needless to say that my boss, the customer and myself were not very happy that the job could not be accomplished.
On my second of these since April, first had a minor issue with the threads that hold accessories on stripping, but worked well. Second froze up after brushes were seated, and overall they've failed about every other use. Totally froze up today, brushes were fused to their brackets after cutting a couple of thin screws. Great function and operation when it works, but if ordering new brushes doesn't solve the problem I'll be finding an alternative to dremels rotary tools
