ive had the same bit for several years in a manufacturing environment. this bit has held up great i use it on mostly carbon fiber which will dull most bits in a day and this thing mows right through it. i have cut through 1/4 fiberglass with relative ease. not what its designed for but best tool i have found in 8 years of composite work.
Bought this yesterday, used it to cut part way through a tile, and the bit was good for about 20cm's worth of work, but then the bit seems to have gone blunt and does nothing more than start to glow red hot.
The guy at the store really talked this bit up, bought it and tried it for backsplash and it would not cut at all, just cracked the tiles if it did anything at all. I cannot recommend this product for doing a backsplash.
Wish I had seen these reviews prior to purchase. I thought this would save me time. It took two hours to cut less than two inches and by the time I got to the end the bit wasn't cutting. The good news is that I saw a review on line of he diamond tile cutting blade and went and bought one. It did the job in less than 5 min. A bit pricey but worth it. It did what this bit should have done.
I bought it to cut some opening on tile for my shower. This tool wasn't able to anything. I end up burning it after 1'' of cut.
Bought it to cut the shower faucet hole on ceramic wall tile. Worked okay for about 1 inch and won't cut anything after that.
I need to punch a small hole through 3/8 in porceline tile. The bit does not cut very well at all, either dry or wet.
I needed to cut small notches in backsplash tile for wall plate screws. It kind of worked for the first couple, although it was very slow. Then it was obvious the bit was getting dull fast and it wouldn't cut at all.
Bought to cut ceramic backsplash tile. Useless - super slow and burns it. Maybe good for paper but not ceramic tile, wall, floor, or otherwise.
Saw the bit at a local hardware store, saw that the package listed it for tile, bought it to cut holes for shower plumbing. About 20 minutes and 1/2" later the bit is black and dull, despite my efforts to cool it by using a squirt bottle and water. Now the it won't cut through warm butter.
