[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This grinding stone is a must have with dremel tools for precise grinding jobs and sharpening! I have even used this for some engraving work and it works on a variety of materials including wood, plastic, and metal.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had been trying to refinish the handle of an antique gun for a while, and everything I tried to strip it with just made a mess, and was damaging the piece. I picked up these grinding stones and they were the perfect tool for the job. They were able to get in and clean out the deep delicate areas I was making a mess of, and wound up looking like it was done by a professional, instead of my messy self. I could not be happier with these stones, especially being run with my new Dremel 4000! The best!
These are probably the stones I use the most. My current project is carving a design into my harp and these are perfect for the outer edges. I just wish these also came in a pointier shape for more defined areas. I've never had a problem with these breaking. Like one reviewer mention, don't use too high a speed.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these quite some time ago & wasn't really sure what to use them for in my life, though I do know what they can be used for. I recently came into a lot of gemstones and gemstone jewelry pieces and I could not be happier with these! They are perfect for smoothing out problem areas in the gemstones so that I can fit them into whatever pendant finding I need them to. I also used them for labeling my dog's food bowl, which I then painted. Very easy to use for this.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use these for finishing the edges of zinc came for stained glass - they're fantastic!
I work in an Aerospace Manufacturing Firm and we use these particular stones quite often for deburr-ing metal, mostly heat treated steel with odd contours. As long as you don't have your Dremel at full RPM's and you do not use a heavy hand, these little guys can last quite a long time, often times I am brought back a nub as the stone is worn down to the core. I have used them and so have my guys and we all swear by them as a cheaper alternative to diamond embedded products.
Make sure to have plenty on hand because these guys wear down super quick. Used them on glass bottles for both grinding down rough surfaces as well as etching and it came out great, but I had to go through a couple just to finish the job so make sure that you have a couple on hand!
Stone easily overheated and separated from the shaft. Was able to retrieve the stone and put it back on and still use it a few times after chasing around the porch but before the job was done it finally finished cracking and was no longer usable. I suspect lighter duty it might be fine but for my purpose it was pretty poor.
The bonding agent that attaches the stone to the white plastic piece below it needs major improvement. It simply does not work. I've used this attachment to slightly enlarge and smoothen holes already drilled out in wooden furniture but after doing 3 or 4 holes, the stone comes off. It's happened to me multiple times.
I bought two of these a while back, just to add to my collection of Dremel tools. They stayed in the package for a few months (indoors, no temperature shifts or anything) and when I opened them, one fell on the carpet in my living room. I picked it up, and the tip is split clean off of it! Expected better from Dremel.
