Dremel Multi-Max MM50-02 5 Amp Variable Speed Corded Oscillating Multi-Tool Kit with 16 Accessories and Storage Bag

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start this review with some back ground. A year ago I did not think I needed or had a use for an “oscillating multifunction tool”. Then I found myself doing some remodeling where I had to cut out floor decking right next to a wall and cabinets. So I decided I would try an oscillating tool. I made the cheap mistake of purchasing a Chicago Electric from HF. This was the top model but only had 2amps. It was also very loud. But this tool introduced me to all the possibilities of an oscillating tool. Then I saw Dremel has introduced a new MM50 model of their Multi-Max line of oscillating tools. I have several Dremel Rotary tools that I am very satisfied with and thought I would like the new model. This MM50 is a HUGH upgrade from my HF. The first thing I noticed was it is so much quieter and doesn't buzz in your hand. Then I do some cuts to a similar piece of floor decking and WOW so much more powerful making it easier and quicker through the cut. This tool also is much easier to change accessories needing no extra tools. Do make sure when you purchase accessories from other Mfr that they are compatible with this quick change system. I know Dewalt has “universal” fit blades that list Dremel but do not fit this unit. The unit I have came with 5 different blades including a very unique one shaped to plunge into drywall and cut around outlets- awesome. It also came with hook and loop sanding head and several sandpaper's of different grit. I never used my old HF for sanding but the Dremel really does a nice job and can get into tight spaces. Overall you will not be disappointed with this tool. I am so happy with all the power and I am continuing to find new uses for it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall it has a very solid and easy to grip body design. The angled head feels very natural while cutting and gives better control. The best feature is having the keyless accessory change. The locking pin is much flusher than others I have used. That helps greatly to prevent scratching a finished surface while making parallel flush cuts. Also cutting the tabs on projects from the cnc has been unbelievably helpful. Lastly the included accessories are all must haves and not just filler pieces.

Right off the top there is no other tool that comes close to doing what this tool was made to do. Cutting wall board for wall electrical boxes or triming molding to slide flooring under. Cutting ceramic tiles for fitting unique creative kitchens or bathrooms. With the right attachments you can accomplish amazing things.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this tool about 3 months ago. I have refurbished by front porch and rebuilt my entire back deck. This tool is a swiss-army knife for any sanding or cutting needs. I had to notch 6X6 timbers and this tool made the fine details remarkably flawless. I have never worked with a tools that has so many uses and performs like a champ every time.

I recently bought this to make some cuts in ceiling panels, and also so I can remove old grout from my bathroom floor. It feels like a well-made tool, and I was amazed how well it worked on the panels. What surprised me most was it was not nearly as loud as I expected it to be. I'm sure when I do the grout it will be louder due to the different tool and substrate, but the tool itself seemed very quiet to me.

I bought this about 4 months ago and I also went and bought another one like it but a different kind to cut with so same brand and they both ended up going out on me which is very disappointing because as a contractor last thing i need is for my tools to go out on me which were working on residential remodels or new construction so I am just upset with the fact that not just one of my tools for this brand but two of them went out around the same time. They work really good beside that fact of not lasting that long.

The variable governor is of poor design. Debris will settle on circuit board and short if out. No replacement part. Same for the mm35 model. If I would known this to be the case I would have taken cover off and blew off the debris on circuit board after each use.

I have owned this for several years with light, now and then use. Buyer beware that Dremel uses cheap plastic switches that fail. You would think that for the cost of this tool, they would source a part that doesn't so consistently give out. If I had designed or sold this, I would be ashamed of myself. A simple internet search will tell you how common this problem is.
