I was using this to remove a Teflon finish from a die that was used in an industrial setting. The Teflon finish was on a brass die and a non marring wheel was needed. This did great and did not appear to harm the brass at all. I would highly recommend this to anyone that needs something that isn't likely to mar the material below what you are removing. How I used it: Low speed and light pressure worked for me. If you DO speed it up to a higher rpm, it will remove material faster but takes a greater chance of ripping itself apart. If you DO apply heavy pressure, it will fall apart in no time. If you follow the instructions, at low speed and light pressure, it works great! Take your time and slow down!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is definitely a handy accessory to have on hand. It's not just for things like removing paint and detail sanding. I thought way out of the box with this one. Cleaning my metal detect finds! Worked awesone to get what could very well be decades of dirt and grime off the relic I recovered some 16 inches deep in hard clay. Didn't even damage it. While I may not recommend doing this on something that may be valuable I see it as a helpful tool inside and out of the house.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this 36 grit abrasive brush to remove some stubborn gasket material residue from an intake manifold that a scraper didn't remove. Running at 10K RPM on my 8220 and with only light pressure, this brush easily cleaned up the gasket material that remained and left a clean surface for reassembly.
I, too, loved this product for the few minutes that I used it, but then looked down and saw that it was almost entirely gone. I would need go through 15-20 of them just to deal with the grooves on my boat ladder (which are only about 1/6" inch wide). I also think it's odd that the web page doesn't even show the grit number and that all three of these parts (36 Coarse, 120 Medium, 220 Finde) all have exactly the same name (Detail Abrasive Brush) on the web site.
Was wanting to use it to take off a bit of loose paint around the wooden spindles that I had already stripped but after it successfully took off the paint on first spindle I happened to look at it and it had completely disintegrated.Had used it lightly as instructed and should have removed the small amount of paint needed to be removed. Will not be buying again.
For the 5-10 minutes of use I got out of it, I loved it. I have a large project and these things would be a life saver if only they lasted. If I could buy them in bulk for very cheap than I would be quite satisfied. Otherwise, this product is WAY over priced and not worth it
I followed the directions for this product to the letter: slow speed, light pressure. It fell to pieces with the first use. I love my Dremel and most of my other attachments, but this one was a dud.
I have gone through several of these and while it works beautifully at first, it lasted a max of 8 mins I carefully used the high and low speed with very little pressure and i did not get very far in stripping paint off of an ottoman I am stripping, restaining and reupholstering. Help!
while it lasted it was awesome. unfortunately it only lasted about 10 minutes.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Being a custom knife maker I use wood, metal, and antlers to make my products. I started with a price of metal stock. Using the EZ471disk to cut the desired pattern in the stock. Using the Dremel disk 411,412 to smooth the design to smooth the edges then buff the design. Using the abrasive brushes using 36grit on groves on the antler, then the 120grit, and finishing with 220grit to remove the discoloration in the groves. The brushes worked very well for my application. The brushes was very simply to change out with the mandrel in place in the Dremel tool.
