This is a good non-slip, non-splinter plastic hoop. I've used them before for both hand quilting and embroidery. THey adjust easily. Very satisfied.

It's a good hoop and, being plastic, it doesn't splinter. I've had one before and so chose to get this one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This non-slip sewing hoop is very sturdy. I have never been very good with hand sewing, but home that this hoop will help. The wood seems to stay together well and the tightening and loosening screw and to hold together well. Can't wait to try to make a blanket or something.

Made of plastic with a 4-inch wing nut and bolt, this smooth quilting no-slip hoop is sturdy and long-lasting. Its interlocking design holds your needle arts fabrics firmly in place. The hoop makes my life simpler! I absolutely love it.

Using this hoop to hand quilt a baby quilt. It works very well with thicker fabric.

I agree that it does grip better than a wooden hoop, however I am disappointed in this hoop, I hoped it would grip the material tighter than it does, there is still a good bit of slippage. It might have been a better product if it would have teeth that would grip the material and hold it in the hoop until you were ready to open the screws and move the material yourself. In fairness to the hoop, I am cross stitching on a thin piece of cotton, and it may not grip as well as if I were using an Aida material. I have not had the opportunity to use Aida yet.

Can I rate this hoop worse than poor? It's a glorified embroidery hoop. And while I'm sure it works fine as an embroidery hoop with one or two layers of fabric, it doesn't work for a quilt with backing, batting, top with appliqued pieces. I tried for 20min to insert the quilt fabric in the hoop. I came to the conclusion that even with 3pairs of hands, I would never be able to tighten the hoop without it popping open due to the thickness of the quilt. It not only is not as thick as a quilting hoop (1"), it's even thinner than a standard embroidery hoop by about 1/8". The groove that is supposed to make this non-slip is not large enough for the quilt thickness. Did anyone there test this hoop with an actual quilt????
