I quit using fabric softener years ago because of the amount of dangerous chemicals in these products. I had heard that dryer balls softened your clothes, so I tried them. These dryer balls really do the trick. They bounce around in the dryer while items are drying and that action reduces static and actually softens the clothes, much like a tennis shoe in the dryer with a down comforter will fluff it up. I would recommend these dryer balls as they are safer for your family and the environment.

These wool balls give the weight you might want to fluff your laundry, but there is still some static within the laundry itself, and I applied three drops of 2 different essential oils (Frankincense and Myrrh) to two different wool balls and my laundry had no scent. The oils might have been old, but I did not smell anything as the dryer was running either. The oils smell just fine in the bottles. If all you are expecting is more fluff, then you've found it.
