As a T1D I don't want to force everyone to eat a sugar free cake or have my blood sugar skyrocket for indulging in a regular slice. Nothing ruins a birthday more than a high blood sugar. So these birthday cakes in a cup with a little carbsmart ice cream are perfect for me. They also have a few other flavors that a great late night snack you won't feel bad about.
I got this as a substitute and almost threw it out. Got bored and decided to try it. I put in a few Hershey zero sugar chocolate chips and a little bit of sugar free cool whip and it was great. I do regular low carb, call it dirty if you want.
I liked it, but it wasn't approved by my 5 year old. Its quick easy and keto and got me a desert when I was craving one.
I thought it tasted ok initially, and I didn't think it tasted bad like others have said, but it did leave a really strange taste in my mouth for hours after eating it. I've never tasted anything like it....kind of a burnt taste but not quite. The funny thing is, I didn't notice this until quite awhile after eating the cake. I hadn't eaten anything else, so I know it was from the cake. I am still going to eat the brownie version I bought, so hopefully I won't have the funky aftertaste again. I'm not a big fan of coconut, so maybe it was at least partially from that, but it was definitely strange.
The walnut fudge brownie is good but this one is below average. The only reason i was able to rate it two stars instead of one star is because I ate along side Rebel keto icecream. I ate half with more icecream then cake. I saved the rest for tomorrow. Independently by itself this gets one star and I will never buy it again. If i never tasted this I wouldn't be missing a thing.
Even though I read a lot of negative reviews, I decided to still try this myself to be sure. Unfortunately, I now understand the negative reviews from first-hand experience. This tastes NOTHING like a birthday cake. It tastes more like corn bread, just like one other reviewer wrote. Also, the recommendation of adding butter seemed off to me, and I love butter. I don't feel like the butter added any value to the texture or flavor. Overall, this was a bland, grainy cake that tastes similar to corn bread, but real corn bread tastes 10 times better. There is a slight sweetener aftertaste, but most Keto products have that so I didn't mind that too much. I decided not to finish the whole thing, as I actually started to feel an unsettling feeling in my stomach. I bought a two-pack so I will throw the second one away, which is highly unlike me because I hate to waste food. Overall, there are other brands out there that are far better than this one. I am very disappointed.
Tasted and smelled GROSS to me but I can be picky so I can't judge too harshly. It also had an off putting sandy/gritty texture which is really weird when you're eating something that's supposed to resemble a baked cake.
I wasn't expecting a ton as it is a keto cake in a cup, so i had low expectations but wanted to give it a try. conclusion: nope. no. gosh no. how did this get through product tasting? I couldn't even finish it. it tasted both bland and bad somehow. i imagine this is what memory foam tastes like. also really annoying to have to seperately melt butter...
It smelled really good, and maybe with some additions, it could be good, but as is, it tastes nasty.
Having a sweet tooth and being diabetic is difficult. I'm always looking for sweets I can eat that won't raise my blood sugar. This was a great big fail! The flavor is awful, the texture is horrible and I won't be purchasing this again. I do appreciate that companies are offering more diabetic (keto) desserts but this just isn't one I can get behind.
