Purchased one in Tuxedo Black (metallic) to touch up a few nicks on the doors, hood, and bed of my 2012 F-150. Color is spot on. Applicators take a little getting used to, it requires a certain finesse in pressure applied to the pen and a light touch with the brush. I found that having a decent amount of paint on the brush and getting a good layer in one swipe works the best. Be sure to use the scuff tip to knock off any rust and loose paint, and clean up the area with alcohol before painting. To those who claim their color wasn't a match, I wonder if they properly mixed the paint up beforehand... Shake it up for a good 2-4 minutes before applying. Yeah, you won't get a pristine, smooth "factory finish" with this product, but with a steady hand the imperfections nearly disappear. It's not a replacement for having a panel resprayed, but designed to clean up and cover up chips where rust starts forming, before it takes hold and really does some damage.
gotta laugh at the guy who didnt bother to look up his paint to get the right color, and then have the balls to whine about it not matching! people are stupid.
I have used these touch up pens on 9 different vehicles and I will continue to purchase and use them on my family's vehicles. I am not sure why there are so many poor reviews. Simple to use and the color was a dead perfect match every time.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is seriously a great product. My car has scratches around the door handle and a few other areas and getting my car repainted is just not an option right now. This fix all in one pen is exactly what I needed. I can't believe how easy this is to use. This pen has three applicators within it. The instructions are so easy to follow. All you have to do is prep it with the abrasive tip then paint it with the precision pen and then finally seal it with the foam applicator. I seriously can't believe how easy it was to use and it matches my car color perfectly. I am beyond impressed with this product and I highly recommend it.
I was tempted to give it a 2 star review, but overall the prime and paint color did work well. I needed 2-3 coats to cover some minor rust spots after prepping, and while it certainly looks like an amateur did the work, it looks 100% better. The only problem I had is I was not able to use the sealer. The diamond shaped sponge at the end of the wand fell off immediately after 1st attempt to use. I tried putting some sealer on a soft rag and applying but don't think it worked. So now, I did all the work but it's not sealed so don't know how protected it will be! :( Don't know how long it will last, just finished up this afternoon.
Do not buy this. It's not even close to the right color. My dried black. My car is steel. Now I have black marks. Gotta sand and redo the paint thanks to crappy touch up paint that isn't a match. Avoid avoid avoid avoid at all cost. Just leave the chip or scratch. But a sticker. It will look better than this trash.
I bought this several weeks ago for an 2012 infiniti to fix chip about the size of a dime. Using a brush is not the way to go as the metallic paint separates. Also brushing leaves brush marks with both the paint and clear coat which in turn means lots of sanding and creating a bigger problem which the brush can't handle. For what I paid for this, I was able to buy spray cans of paint and clear coat for a little bit more money and the spray worked great.
I got the scratch fix all in 1 subaru 61K dark gray (m) asu 1358 and it came with clear coat but no base paint... literally an empty tube... I'm glad I sanded my car just to have a defective product
Unfortunately one star is as low as they go. The same color Code as my car, but color looked almost non existent. On top of that, it made my paint peel faster
It's not dry flat now instead of a tiny scratch I have a long painted line
