The best labels ever! I use them for my pottery business. The labels are durable, waterproof, and stick to rough surfaces.
These labels worked great on 450 line of printers, but they are not working on the 550 line. I talked to customer support because of the response from Dymo in the other review on this product, but Dymo customer support has refused to send any Durable labels as part of their Label Exchange Program, and they insist on sending "multipurpose" labels which are not durable and break down in our use-case.
The label passed the chemical resistance test but unfortunately they are not recognized by the Label Writer 550.
I doubt I will ever get a DYMO again. Their products are so poor. Cons: You can not use any other labels other than their proprietary label. So, if you wanted to use a higher quality label, the machine will not "recognize" it. This label is rated for UV resistance and water resistance but turn brown or fade after about a day or two.
I came here to say the exact thing Kevin said! We have had a LabelWriter 450 for at leas a decade. After not using it for a bit, we need it again. Not only did I have to buy 1in x 0.5in labels through a third party, I had to use a third party software. We are currently looking to replace the label maker since Dymo doesn't support the 1in x 0.5in labels anymore. Laboratories need this size labels for 2.0mL tubes. PLEASE bring it all back! I will have to say the third party software works really nice though. Very easy to use.
Scientific customers need the ability to print sample information onto 1 mL eppendorf centrifuge tubes. Thousands of labs use a cryolabel product that works on 450/4XL but of course is not compatible with the Dymo 550 or 5XL because they are not official dymo brand labels. We tested the 1"x1" durable label option, the only possible solution in the dymo portfolio. This label is too large, extending over the portion of the tube where it starts to taper. See attached photo. My company makes instruments for bio research and our customers have used the 450 and cryotag labels for 10+ years. Dymo needs to support a 1/2" x 1" label as a product. We are actively searching for a replacement that will make customers happy.
I needed a long lasting and durable tape to be used on my sail boat . Wasted hours looking for a waterproof tape from Dymo for my Letratag machine as the usual lables produced by Dymo for this machine are such poor quality. The lettering rubs away very easily , the labels easily peel off and fade away in no time. On return home after my purchase I discovered that the Dymo Durable tape cartridge that the store had recommended and that I had purchased ( very expensive) does not fit my Dymo Letratag. Having subsequently read the unfavourable comments about Dymo Durable there is no way I will invest in a new Dymo. I will now opt to buy another brand of machine which appears in many tests to be the market leader in producing durable tapes.
DYMO 550 Turbo does not recognize these labels. Very expensive for something that doesn't work. Website says that it is not compatible with the 450 unit. The box does not state what units they work in. Get your act together DYMO.
