Propane Heater can be used indoors!

edswife August 11, 2022

Since it's 75 today instead of in the 90's I decided to try out the new Dyna-Glo propane heater. I want to use it when the electric goes off and the room starts getting cold. The directions for hooking up the propane and getting it started are excellent. Easy to read and follow. Since the only thing using propane I have ever used is a grill, I had my husband read me the instructions while I worked the knob to turn on the pilot then to actually turn on the heater. Next time I will be able to do it by myself and so will he. This unit is for a 1 lb. propane container and it's very specific in what type to buy. We found our propane container at Walmart. This little heater will be able to heat a small vented area. The warnings say not for a bathroom or bedroom. The flame is open so it could easily catch something on fire, so be careful not to have it near something that might blow into it or get near the flame. There is a frame around the front where the heat/flame is, but the sections are quite wide enough to get something in it. (see the picture) Again, I recommend the use of this propane heater in a wide open space with nothing around that might be blown or laid in it. Just be careful, especially around children.

Great Portable Grab And Go Propane Heater

SPN110 August 29, 2022

We live in a rural area where we rely on propane and electricity for our power and heating needs. The electricity goes off about a dozen times per year ranging from 24 hours to a week. Fortunately, our propane (and a generator) supplies power for heat, cooking, and hot water. Therefore, I was thrilled to evaluate the Dyna-Glo Grab N Go Portable Propane Heater. I have had the unit for several weeks now, but with daily temps hovering around 100, have had no real opportunity to truly evaluate it in cold conditions. Oh, I added the 1 lb propane cylinder and tested all of its functions. I can say that everything works as advertised, except for not being to evaluate the unit in a cold environment. I suspect this Dyna-Glo Portable Propane Heater will spend some time this winter keeping me warm in my garage while I work on various projects. I really like that the unit is easily portable, so I can move it to where I am sanding, sawing, shaping, drawing, and the many other garage-centric tasks in my work day (did I mention drinking beer?). I would prefer a unit that is capable of accepting a standard 20lb propane tank source. Dyna-Glo does make such a unit and I will probably buy one for winter use, if I need more that the one lb cylinder unit provides. The one lb cylinder unit can be safely used in doors, which is a definite plus. Overall, I would recommend the Dyna-Glo Grab N Go Portable Propane Heater. It’s definitely portable and, with a claimed 10,000 BTU output, can keep you warm on chilly nights and days.

Perfection

Laura August 21, 2022

Absolutely love this heater. Works so perfectly for taking into the woods on a camping trip, we have used in hunting tower or ground blind during cold winter days. Puts out a lot of heat and the propane tanks last a surprisingly long time. Almost 80 hours of use/heat? It’s a no brainer! Sturdy design, nice protective cage for heating element and a robust handle makes for easy transport. Do yourself a favor and pick one up. If you do any sort of outdoor activity in cool weather (picnics, fishing, boating, camping, etc) I strongly recommend it.

Propane heater

Jack August 10, 2022

This is going to be a good little heater for my shed this winter. These are really handy and convenient. It’s very light so I can just take it to where I need it. Well constructed, easy hook up. If your needing something for a small outdoor space like shed, garage this would work very well for that. It truly is a grab and go. No extra equipment to lug around.

Awesome little heater

Kayla September 5, 2022

This little portable heater is the perfect little camping buddy!! We have a large tent and we had the heater in with us and hardly had the temperature up. It kept it sooooo warm in there. The little propane tanks work great but if you want to keep it running for a long period of time I recommend getting a 5 gallon propane tank and a connector.

Excellent portability

vald August 23, 2022

This Dyna-Glo grab ‘n go is an excellent compact heater. Make sure the handle is raised up before operating. Just pull directly upwards until it locks into place. This is the smaller version (10k), which takes a 1 lb cylinder or a 20 lb cylinder can also be hooked up to it. I am currently using the 1 lb cylinder which is in my pic. I like the portability with the 1 lb cylinder. That size lasts 2.2 hrs running on high, or 4.2 hrs if running on low. They say a 20 lb cylinder will get 45 hrs on high, and 79 hrs on low. I personally have not used this with a 20 cylinder, and I believe there are optional accessories needed to hook up the 20 lb cylinder. This heater is easy to set up and use. It says the heater can be used indoors if it is an emergency and the room is well ventilated. I have only used this in the outdoors. This heater has a nice solid handle, is made well, and comes with easy to use instructions.

Great Overall

beccalam13 August 12, 2022

We are mostly happy with our DynaGlo Grab N Go 10,000 BTU Portable Propane Gas (LP) Heater. This is perfect if you want to sit outside, you don't have an outlet nearby, but you want some heat. We will be using it on our back porch during the cooler months since my husband gets cold very easily. He loves sitting out back and looking at the birds and nature, but he freezes for more than half the year. This heater has a strong, easy to grip handle. It is simple to move around and it is not overly heavy. I love that the valve swivels for easy replacement of the propane. It is not hard at all to screw on the propane cylinder. The heating element and pilot area does have a grate in front of it for protection. The two disadvantages of this heater are the fact that with a small propane cylinder it only lasts about 4 hours or so and that is with it on the low setting. For high it only lasts a little over 2 hours. So if you want to use this regularly, expect to go through some propane. I mean it's really not bad considering how much using electric for a heater costs. The other issue is with the pilot and getting it started. If it is remotely breezy or windy outside, lighting the pilot is tricky. When we used it the last time it was a bit breezy and it took a few tries to get the pilot to hold the flame. It is best to try and light it under calm wind conditions or in an area where the wind is blocked from the unit. It does blow out very nicely once you get it started. The heat feels really good and comes out consistently. It warms up our enclosed porch in a fairly short period of time. It does take a few minutes for it to really kick in and get it started so patience is needed. Overall, it is a great heater though. We are impressed with it and do recommend it.

Puts out 800 degrees F of heat

BillyBob August 7, 2022

This heater works very well. It puts out 800 degrees F of heat. However it does not stay lit in the wind very well. The directions say to position the unit so that it blocks the wind and then to use your body to block the wind. We feel that this works OK, but, if the wind shifts then it goes out. The unit has numerous safety warnings, including carbon monoxide poisoning, fire, and explosion. Any fuel device puts out carbon monoxide, which means that you CANNOT use this device in an enclosed area. You need proper ventilation so that you don’t die of carbon monoxide poisoning. The instructions say that you need at least "18 square inches (An opening of 4 ¼ x 4 ¼ inches)" of ventilation. Please take this warning VERY seriously.

Diminished performance when ambient temps below 36F 1lb bottle on low < 3 hrs Camp stove requiring 50% soap solution to check connections for leaks is silly
