Very good smoker

stacy62774 June 4, 2023

Makes very good smoked turkey, you have to use charcoal, and I also used wood pellets for smoking. It was delicious.

Advice on using.

Justin October 29, 2021

It's a decent smoker. I've found after a few uses that once you put the meat on ( room temp or not) it's hard to get it back up to temp. It is a lot of work maintaining a constant temp of 225 or above. So always allow yourself at least an hour and a half to cook times. Also do not line the water pan with foil. It will cause it to boil and spill over onto the coals. This will make your temp drop below 180. Other than this that I've learned it's a good smoker. Flavor is amazing! Thus far I've smoked pork tenderloin, pork shoulder and at this point in time a 10 lbs turkey breast. I'd highly recommend. Using the snake method always with your coals with this smoker.

Great quality...except for the paint!

mjwlondon July 6, 2020

Very solid and well built. Metal parts are surprisingly heavy. Takes about 45 minutes to assemble. Disregard the cooking instructions as many of the paragraphs contradict themselves, especially those mentioning which racks to use. Just rely on common sense. The only disappointment on the item itself was the paint. It says heat resistant but definitely was not. In fact it melted on first use! Had to pry the lid off with a screwdriver ad the melted paint sealed it to the base! Next time we placed a few bits of tin foil to separate the lid. Paint no longer melts after the 6th use. If it wasn't for the paint issue would have been 5/5.

Decent Smoker and grill for charcoal.

BetterHalf May 17, 2021

Pretty nice, Brinkman use to have about the same thing for about half the price but they are hard to find so I got this and set it on some cement blocks. Works good.

Decent for the price.

Some of the hardware sucks but overall it's a good smoker. I just do the charcoal snake method and it does good.

Prepare yourself for a long assembly time.

Walter June 23, 2020

When I received the item I open the box, and discovered that the top of the smoker had rubbing damage all the way down to the bare metal the paint was gone. It was a long the top rim approximately 6 in long. Be prepared to give at least an hour to an hour and a half of assembly. I replaced the wingnuts with actual nuts because wingnuts tend to become loose when he has a plaid to them. Overall it's a pretty nice smoker for the price, would I do it again? I'm thinking probably not.

Bad design with paint

Steve May 31, 2019

I see why they are own clearence. The company has changed the design. And for good reason. Once it gets hot for the first time, the dampers at the bottom and the lid, the paint melts on those moving parts and they pretty much become welded in place. I couldnt close the dampers down to regulate the heat nor could i get the lid off. I had to get a screwdriver to pry the lid off. After i finished cooking for the first time i took the screws out of the dampers and had to pry them off with a thin knife blade. I them dropped them in an old icecream bucket with acetone to melt the paint and used 0000 steel wool to strip it clean. Then i coated them with vegetable oil as well as the lid. Hopefully next time they wont stick. They should have never ever painted two surfaces that would get hot and stay in contact with each other. It also says this is powder coated. Its not. Its just paint. Good design but needs improvent which hopefully they did with the next model
