Dyson fan should be a vacuum… because it sucks

Abc123 August 9, 2026

I owned an older Dyson air purifying fan that worked wonderfully for me for years of almost constant use. It worked so well that I continued to use it as a fan for years after Dyson decided to stop making it (and the filters for it). It wasn't until recently that the fan started to show its age and I figured it was time to buy a replacement. Given the outstanding performance of the earlier unit I happily paid the ultra high cost for a new one, happy in the thought that I'd be given the same performance that I've enjoyed for so long now. Boy, I was wrong. This Cool PC1 is the most anemic, slow, low powered piece of doo I've ever bought. Despite having 2 extra strength settings the fan blows at only a fraction of the strength. The purifying ability is slow. Dyson has removed the back and forth (or maybe up and down) pivot for air direction. The environmental displays are more limited, and I didn't need a blasted app for the older fan. Seriously disappointed over having made this purchase

-5star – Received wrong model twice. This is fraud

Farid April 1, 2026

1 star – Received wrong model twice. This is fraud. I purchased the Dyson PC1/TP11 from Act Front specifically for my mother, who suffers from severe seasonal allergies. I needed the right model, not a close substitute. Both my order and a separate order placed by a friend came with the TP10 — a cheaper model — despite the listing clearly showing the TP11. When I contacted the seller, they called it a “mistake.” A mistake once is understandable. The same “mistake” on two independent orders? That is not a coincidence. This seller appears to be deliberately listing the TP11 to attract buyers, then shipping the TP10 and counting on customers not to notice the difference. That is deceptive and, frankly, fraudulent. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this seller. If you do order from them, inspect your packaging carefully before assuming you received what you paid for.

Air purifier for the bedroom

Robbie the robot September 4, 2026

I bought this a month ago for my. Bedroom and it's amazing , when outside temperatures are normal it cools the room down beautifully, I use it for my allergies and sinus problems and it has reduced them when I wake up in the morning. When we have heatwaves 30 degrees plus it works well facing you but it's not a conditioning unit but to be fair it's not meant to be. Would recommend an excellent product, easy to use with app as I can turn it on before going to bed and the timer turns it off when I needed to. It is also very quiet. Perfect for my needs .

BUSRA March 10, 2026

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THEY SENT ME LOWER MODEL WHICH IS IDENTICALLY SAME LOOKING!!!! (TP10) Check your item when it received before open the box. It was such a disappointment!! Model name written on bottom of the box. It makes harder to recognize it.

Helped the dogs

Kez72 June 12, 2026

Bought during the last hot spell we had and what a lifesaver it turned out to be for the dogs. We live open plan so I was worried we wouldn't get any benefit with it being a large area to cover but I need not have worried as it kept the area cool. It is very quiet and the airflow is generous. Very easy to set up and operate using an App so do not need to get up to operate airflow or oscillation. Great feature is the timer so no need to worry if you fall asleep with it running unnecessarily. If you want it to run all night then the night settings quieten it even further. Great feature is seeing air quality due to the filtration settings as a couple who vape I can see it go red when my partner's vape is being used. As a menopausal women it has been a godsend and even with the hot spell we have yet to run it on a setting higher than 7. The dogs lie in front of this now even when not running. Only downside is the appearance as they are not the greatest looking piece of kit. I would prefer it to blend in slightly but no fan does that anyway regardless of make.

Hope it works?

Lala September 2, 2026

So the goal is air purification – which you just hope that the readings that are connected to the app/machine are good – the problem is, it doesn't tell you *what* exactly is polluting your indoor air, which seems problematic. If you don't know which elements are actually polluting your air, it kind of leaves you stuck as far as resolution of the actual source of the issue(s) so the air purification is more of a Band-Aid. It would be good, if not critical to know specifically what those elements are so you can actually resolve those problems. As this, all you can do is hope that it's cleaning whatever mystery bits are in your air and blindly trust their 5 levels of generic readings. we have three different types of units – they're all a bit on the louder side.

Possible return

X5150gk October 1, 2026

Bought this product around a month ago and i feel i may return it due to it not really keeping my home cool. The air purifier is nice and the 350 degree rotation is nice but at level 10 rotating 350 degrees all day and i walk into a stuffy home at 11pm with one other tower fan and a ceiling fan running.

Poor cooling Dyson fan

Cg91 June 25, 2026

After using this for a month now I don't see the benefits of this over the normal fan I have, it blows no cooler air and less powerful also the purifier hasn't stopped my wife having issues with her hay fever. Not worth the money and way over priced.

Weak fan, some major improvements needed

Paul85 June 29, 2026

I was very disappointed to find out that the “Cool” function wasn't nearly as powerful as other Dyson machines branded as “Cool”. It feels quite misleading to use the same branding across products with much more powerful fans, because you naturally assume you're getting both an air purifier and an effective cooling fan in one machine. The reality couldn't be more different. The cooling performance is more like a gentle breeze than a proper fan. During a 37°C heatwave, it simply isn't capable of cooling you down. I've ended up using my traditional metal rotary fan instead, which does a much better job. Even my five-year-old budget tower fan from the high street has noticeably more airflow and cooling power than this premium Dyson product. Another major issue is that whenever I use a humidifier in the bedroom to improve my sleep, the air purifier detects the water vapour as pollution and immediately switches to its highest setting. This means you can't rely on the indoor air quality readings, as they become distorted whenever the humidifier is running. Since the purifier produces a constant stream of clean but very dry air, it's perfectly reasonable to want to use it alongside a humidifier. Unfortunately, the machine isn't able to distinguish water vapour from actual pollution, making the two difficult to use together. I regard this as a major flaw in the design of the machine itself. I was also extremely disappointed with the order fulfilment. When I placed my order, the website stated “Get it next day”, but in reality it took a week and a half to arrive. The order wasn't even dispatched the day after I placed it. Overall, I have to seriously question whether this product is worth the price. If more than 14 days hadn't passed since I received the product, I would return it without hesitation and instead buy a traditional metal fan together with a separate air purifier. Based on my experience, that combination would provide significantly better cooling performance while still delivering the air purification I was looking for.
