Even though I have had 20+ planes over the 6 years in the hobby “and still have 13 of them” I want to get this as my next purchase because I love the rest of my airplanes and I have warbirds, Jets, trainers, UMX's, and much more I feel like I'm missing something and I was looking at a C172 model from FMS but with the grass field I fly at this looks like the better choice and it's cheaper 😁.
Went together quickly (in about 1 hr), got together with my local club and was very helpful in training and the maiden flight, worked out some minor issues. First flights went well even with a bit of wind, but still need to tweak the nose gear. Keeps going to the right on taxi even after reinstalling. (I didnt have it in all the way at first).
Super tough and awesome to fly
cool
Great beginer plane
I have been wanting to get into R/C for a long time and finally took the plunge. Being an old modeler at heart, I just could not leave the plane stock. It now looks like an Army Spotter, complete with D-day stirpes and a Flying Tiger's nose. I will try to post pictures somehow. I have talked to the local R/C club, and planning on joining and getting her into the air soon.
I purchased this Apprentice STS 1.5 RTF a few weeks ago. I received it super fast. When it arrived, I placed it in my grandson's bedroom closet due to an illness I was going through and didn't have a chance to open it. When I finally opened it there was a few problems. I contacted Horizon Hobby and they immediately instructed me what to do. They sent me a return label via email for my plane to send back to them at their cost. They said once it was in transit, that they would send me a new plane. I received the new plane within days and no problems. I couldn't have ask for any better Customer Service Personnel who helped me resolve such a manner issue as this. My gratitude goes to Mr. Jefferson and the people who helped him resolve this issue. I'm glad I choose Horizon Hobby to start doing business with. You definitely have new customer. BOMBER AND HIS (10 - YEAR WING MAN GUMMY BEAR)
For sure a great trainer as a very first plane. You can't go wrong there. It really does give you what you would expect from a trainer. Some things I hope they improve on in a new version would be ditch the rubber bands to hold the wing. They have so much better quick connects and such these days. And the dreaded bottom load battery area. This plane is far to large to be flipping over all the time to get to the battery. I would also like to see more power added to her. NAV lights would be a great addition as well so pilots training get used to that as well. She does feel very under powered in the air, but keep in mind that it is a trainer so it is somewhat expected. Landing gear holds up well. All in all, you can't go wrong with this as a first plane to train on. Does exactly what it is intended for. Handles grass perfectly also. So hope that E-Flite releases a new version soon with the recommended upgrades mentioned above to it to make it just perfect.
Execellent tranier, flies well and stable. The price is too expensive and continue to increase. I purchased the RTF model it use to come with 1 battery and charger. Now the price increased without battery and charger, thus 3 stars. Best to go with the largest battery. 4000mah...
