Eargo 8 Virtually Invisible OTC Hearing Aids with Smart Sound Adjust & 2 Week Battery Life

Hopefully this review of my experience is helpful to others. After doing a hearing test online and with an audiologist, they indicated I was a borderline candidate for hearing aids. I thought an OTC type would be a good cost-effective choice for me. Plus, I definitely preferred the “in-the-canal” type device. So, I decided on the Eargo SE model. After a little over a year, I found that I was struggling more with background noises and was trying more Sound Matches to compensate. So, I did another online hearing test and determined that my overall hearing loss had decreased slightly more. Since I liked the Eargo SE, I spoke with an Eargo representative and discussed my hearing loss and the problems I was encountering. Based on that conversation, performance of the SE, and more research. . . I felt the Eargo 8 was my best choice. I was also pleased to find out that Eargo also has a customer loyalty program. After the initial setup and “Sound Match” there was a noticeable difference managing background noise. I found the “Sound Match “program has improved over that of SE model. In my case, being able to adjust the “treble and bass” has also made a positive difference. The Eargo 8's performance has been dramatically better for me. Also, the extra battery life is a plus in my circumstance.

I was reluctant to purchase any hearing aid because my only experience with any hearing aid was not good because of the occluded sound when trying out a hearing aid device at the audiologist office. I also wear glasses and work outdoors during the summer and felt that an over the ear device would be more annoying than helpful, so my interest was to avoid the occlusion effect and the over the ear type devices. Finally, after saying the word "what" too many times to respond to my wife, I checked with our insurance provider to see if any options were available that might fit my needs. I was surprised to see that one of the options was the Eargo SE model. I then went to the Eargo website and review websites to learn more about them. I spoke to a Eargo hearing specialist who was very helpful and answered a lot of questions that I had about Eargo. Although, I was planning to go forward with the insurance option for the Eargo SE, then the Eargo 8 came out, so I decided to get this latest version. While the Eargo 8 seems to be a great hearing aid so far, what impresses me the most is the support that I received and continue to receive from the Eargo staff. I took the Eargo 101 course online and that was very informative. But I was still trying to learn how to 'tune' the devices for the different programs. I sent a text and almost immediately I got a phone call from an Eargo support person. She sent a message to the Eargo app on my phone and amazingly solved the "tinny" sound issueI was having. I'm usually in the 'normal' setting but have used the 'restaurant' setting when dining out and it effectively cuts out the background noise and still allows me to hear all of the conversation at the table. I'm a very happy customer!

The Eargo 8s last through the whole work day. Even after work, the Eargos are still going strong on one charge from the night before. Sound quality and features are impressive. Since I work in a noisy environment, the noise cancelling helps me hear speech much better, also is nice to MUTE them when not needed in noisy environments. Customer service have always been there when trouble arises with the Eargos. When trouble shooting, they have always had a solution to the problem.

I'm a most delighted customer. Eargo 8 are the first hearing aid devices I've owned. What a difference they make! Id been reluctant for many years to seek remediation for my hearing deficit. But the more I realized I was missing out on conversations and often requiring my wife to interpret what others were saying, I decided I needed help. After doing research on the various OTC devices, I settled on Eargo. After four weeks of use, the adaptation process has been seamless and Eargo support has also been very empathetic and responsive.

I am getting used to the hearing aids. I have been deaf in my right ear since the age of 5. Now, at the age of 65, my “good” ear is not so good any longer. I found that the Eargos really help in a world that has become. . . What? Huh? Didn't hear you. Could you repeat? I can actually understand my wife significantly better and now she's not as frustrated with repeating herself all the time. AWESOME!!!! Eargo is a blessing and work very well. They were purchased for several reasons. First, Consumer Reports rated them well. Secondly, and more importantly for me, I only need one aid. With Eargo, I can use either aid in my left (good) ear so when the battery dies after a long day, I can grab the other and slip it in. Nice.

I really like the Eargo 8s. Great product with good customer service. I ordered the Eargo 8s because I want even better clarity. I find them quicker to clean and I don't have to worry about losing the tiny mic caps. The small trumpet tips are comfortable and are really easy to reattach after cleaning. I'm impressed with the sound quality. They are very nice hearing aids.

I am enjoying my Eargos and have recommended them to a few of my friends and family. The very complete instructions that accompanied my Eargos have been very user friendly as have the email reminders on cleaning and tutorials. I am beyond pleased! I have found that the more I have worn them, the more I don't need them in all situations. I especially use them in restaurants, meetings and with certain TV programs (like streamed programs that don't seem to have as good a sound quality). The ease of adjusting for specific environments on the app is appreciated.

I love the Eargo 8s. Less need for adjustments. Better tone quality. Super for playing piano. The translucent small trumpets were key to fit.

Apparently, Eargo is no longer able to operate in the United States and they're trying to set up some kind of contingency plan but nothing is in place yet. I am very frightened that I will lose the money I put into buying these hearing aids so you need to be cautious before you buy them. I have only had them for three weeks, but I am satisfied with them.
