Great tool - works really well. I wish there was a single hand operation, it's hard to split unbalanced logs as I need two hands to engage the tool and then I have no hand to hold the unbalanced log.
We heat with wood cut on our property in a wood stove in the house. It is so easy to just plug it in and stock up on split wood. We are in our 80s and appreciate not having to deal with gas.
Bought this because I always get large limbs falling on my property from all the trees. I split lots of maple and black walnut logs with it and it worked flawlessly. It does recommend log sizes for splitting and I would stay in that range. Especially if splitting hard woods. Thisbis worth the purchase.
Not much to say except, does the job well with no issues. Can split logs larger then noted in manual. Even splits green wood with ease. Very happy with this log splitter, even the wife likes to use it. Very simple 1 button and 1 lever operation. The price was on point with other log splitters that are the same.
Great unit .. bad shoulders prevent me from swing a maul and this is perfect for splitting already split logs smaller for an upstairs old fashioned cooking stove
At only 105 pounds it sit happily on a 4 foot resin table and I am able to work at a comfortable height. It really surprised me on how it splits even big blocks. It gets a number 1 rating from me.
It works, it is slow. It requires two and sometimes three hands to operate and hold the log in place. I made 1.5 cords of spruce in 9 hours. Its heavy to get in and out of a truck but it sure beats swinging a splitting maul.
Good machine. The only concern I have is the placement of the control buttons. Placing the controls attached to the back of the machine or attached to a cable would be better and safer.
The splitter seemed to work ok. But after using it for an hour or so the tray that came with the stand came loose and shifted. Upon investigating why, I found that the welded nub (which has a thread in side of nub) on the splitter was angled higher then the frame screw hole. Because of this, the thread in the nub is stripped and tray will not stay tight. I filled out a warranty claim and its been over 3 weeks and have not heard from the company.
I'm a little disappointed with this product. It's really slow and doesn't seem to have the power to go through Hardwood like Oak and that's what I needed it for. It does okay with cedar but I can split that by hand. The wood pops off kind of hard and you have to be careful to not get hit by it plus it leaves red paint all over your wood not aesthetically pleasing.
