This welder has performed as advertised, tested it in 2 (tac) 4 modes and welding, uphill, horizontal, overhead, everything worked a little better than my expectation, tuning in amps and wire feed was easy. Had a 25' gun made for it, it has no problems pushing wire through this length. Was happy with that. Also, made-up a longer ground lead, and bought a 50' extension cord, was able to reach to next floor up, and the roof of the shop. Note: It was used in a good amount of wind, Nossal size and flow meter kept up with the demand.
easy to hook up including a 120 cfm gas tank only played with it one time waiting on material to come and get to work with it. worked great on tacking some 1/8 inch metal for lawn deck. so far happy with it.
Going from a chicelec welder from that big cheap box store to a professional welder like the Eastwood 180 was sonething I wish I would have done a year ago when I first started welding. The machine is easy to use, has all the necessary parts included(for solid mig, DONT FORGET THE KNURLED ROLLER FOR FLUX LIKE I DID) and produces very clean welds. The industry standard gun makes getting replacement parts easy to get. 6lbs of wire down no issues yet. Only gripe I have is the power switch is in the back. Otherwise 10outta10 would recommend.
Love this welder. The spot weld feature is amazing.
First time welder. And was able to make almost perfect welds right out of the box
I never paid much attention to warranties before because most of them didn't seem to be worth the time to read them, but Eastwood went far beyond what the warranty on my MIG175 called for and sent me a new MIG180. It works great. Their response was fast and I lost very little time working on my project.
I wouldn't be afraid to weld 3/8 mild steel plate with this machine. When you crank it up ,it burns good and hot, penetration not an issue. One quark, the sticker giving starting settings with ws, volts x wire dia, under the feeder hood . It' shows settings for .023 wire ,but none for .025 . Remembering this I also recalled the guide wheel being .030 on one side and .02? on the other side. I assumed it was .023 because of the sticker and ordered a few rolls of .023 and tips. Well after the fact when I was to put the .023 on for the first time I see the wheel was .025. well needless to say .023 runs poorly with the lack of tension . So I call Eastwood to order a .023 guide wheel , I'm told they don't offer a wheel in .023 ,but do for .025. get a different sticker or offer the guide wheel in .023 as wheel.
Overall a good welder at a great price but...On off switch should be on the front. Hard to find on back. Gas hose is in the top middle on back...right in the way of the gas bottle when on the cart. Not a fan of the slow wire speed until arc. Makes quick spot welding harder to control.
Great welder , really dials down for sheet metal, also great for exhaust work !
The machine is wonderful when plugged to 230 Volt and I wished I had realized I was not a MiG Tig combo or I would have purchased a different machine but it is working well as a MiG on 230 volt
