Saves on Elbow Grease-let Etch do all the labor!

bstj8 July 19, 2022

This rust remover works great. I use it on everything that has lots built up with rust which makes the job easier. Highly recommended for restoring items made of metal/steel. It worked great on my 17 year old Kenmore gas's grill restoration project. Looks new again. 5??‘s

Fast Etch

Jonathan August 7, 2022

Media blasted a '50 Ford just prior to an accident and didn't get to primer the body. Fractured my knee and collapsed my L5 disc. A year later I'm still not back to normal but getting around a bit better. The Fast Etch and scotch brite pads ate away every bit of flash rust. Super happy with the result!

This stuff is great!

Denny July 28, 2022

I'm using this on my classic car that has been professionally stripped. I was not able to prime everything quickly due to health and some panels began getting surface rust and looking terrible. Just spray this on the rust and help it along with Scotch Brite pads. In just a few minutes the rust is gone and the area is a smooth gray finish. I use my painter's face mask and there is no smell at all.

Good product-works well!

Anonymous February 16, 2023

I used this on some 56 Chevy sedan doors. I've used similar products in the past, and this works at least as well if not better. I had some more stubborn spots on a couple of the nooks in jamb areas, but I just let it work for a few minutes and reapplied more etching solution and it gradually just went away. I used dark maroon scotchbrite pads from a local paint store for application. Just cut a couple chunks off, fold them over once to allow the solution to soak in a little and get to work. You'll know when it's time to get a new one, the pads will eventually disintegrate… I allowed it to sit per the directions and used some disposable blue shop rags with copious amounts of acetone to clean it all off…only do the areas you're prepared to do as the etching solution can evaporate and you'd have to reapply. When alls done, It leaves a hazy dullish gray finish on bare sanded steel. If you don't get all the residue off, it'll feel almost tacky to the touch. Now, if you're not familiar with these types of chemicals, you need to Read the directions and the warnings-this stuff is acidic, so you have to wear some splash and skin protection. It also outgasses some noxious fumes like hydrogen sulfide (rotten eggs) during the conversion process, so ensure you have more than adequate ventilation or you'll likely wind up with a headache. Oh-if you're working on a large area or many panels, just buy the gallon and pick up a couple spray bottles from a local hardware store, it makes application a lot easier.

great stuff

Todd March 24, 2024

This stuff will eliminate surface rust. When you follow the directions it will leave you a nice paintable surface that will not "re rust", At least for a few days, I cant speak for longer periods as I always applied epoxy within a few days.

Fast and easy

Racer No 3 July 25, 2024

My go to on rusty parts. On heavy flaky rust, hit it with a needle scaler, wire brush on drill, acid etch and clean. Ready to paint, depending on the repair and finish you need. Fast Etch

Does what it promises to do.

TonyH August 16, 2021

I have two cars in my shop in bare metal. High humidity combined with oily hands caused lots of flash rust. This product removed the flash rust and left behind the coating as promised. Make sure you have your respirator and gloves and protect the shop floor. Very toxic stuff. If you let it dry on the surface too long it leaves a white powdery coating that's very difficult to remove. I anticipate having to thoroughly sand the surface before primer.

Fast etch honest review

Todd September 22, 2024

Product worked pretty good but I wished eastwood would put better instructions on how to use and how to neutralize the acid. Yes I know it says to use paint pre prep but people dont always have this and there needs to be other ways listed.

No effect on my rusted objects whatsoever.

Jimbo October 2, 2023

I bought the 32 ounce pump bottle, intending to use it on some auto components and a couple other things. I started with an old rusted steel push shovel that was devoid of any paint. Temperature was in the 70's. I thoroughly wire brushed the shovel, removing all loose rust. Also went over it with a sanding disk. Cleaned off all the dust. Wetted the shovel down thoroughly with the product and wrapped it with plastic wrap to keep it from evaporating, as the instructions on the bottle clearly state. Every fifteen minutes I removed the plastic and sprayed again. Some of the rust turned a darker color of brown while wet. But the product did nothing. It didn't convert any rust, remove any rust, lay down a coating of zinc, or make subsequent mechanical rust removal any easier. When the product dried I was left with the same brown rust I started with. As useless as applying water. That was my first experience. Yesterday I applied it to a panel from a washing machine. Same method excepting I did not bother with the plastic wrap. I kept the panel wet. It did not convert any rust, remove any rust, deposit any coating, or make mechanical removal easier. It did not work.
