did not stay charged like I thought they would

I bought these to power a small “smart” thermometer. They are NiCad so should stand up to the temps between 19-50F outside, in the building I keep around 32-60F. They show a full charge on the charger. But when placed in the thermometer, the battery display shows about 75%. However, I visit the building at least every other day, so no big deal. And this will be the third charge. The literature that accompanied the package said to expect a few charges to improve the charge. So maybe it'll be a while. But if you're looking for a long-lasting charge, not sure that's going to happen. Will update if it does. Still, the batteries work fine for what I need.
