This is the saw to get if you want a saw that performs like a Stihl or Husky, without overpaying. I have only had Stihl chainsaws, with some issues and maintenance hick ups. I have an Echo backpack blower and a SRM 2400 weed trimmer. I've had Zero issues with either one for over 10 years. So I went with Echo for the new saw an it's a banger! Very Happy!
I had my chain saw echo for almost 6 years. I had to upgrade to this one due to the other lost in the recent flood. This brand is the best in the market.
Bought this saw to compliment my Timber Wolf. No mistake. Best power, price and warranty in class. Cold start in 3 pulls. Warm start in 1 pull. Cuts like a dream. Well balanced.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had echo products for years and this one is no exception to being the best there is out there. With this chainsaw, I have never had a chain that was stay as sharp as this one does for so long. With my Stihl chainsaw, I'd have to stop over 10 minutes or so to help the chain stay sharp. This echo I can take a break in an hour and 15 minutes and it's still in good shape.
Near pro saw at a consumer- level price. If you aren't familiar with saw designs, this is a clamshell style build that isn't considered “pro level”, but if you aren't going to port it and/or use it daily, don't ponder that very much. It has a good power to weight ratio, offers a momentary off switch, and uses small mount Husqvarna bars. All at a price significantly less than a comparable Stihl or Husqvarna. If you are looking for an all purpose saw for residential uses, the 4920 is a great choice.
Very good chainsaw. Big enough to handle most residential needs yet small enough to carry and store. Be mindful of the starting instructions though as it will flood easily. Other than that, I'm very much pleased with my purchase. As a matter of fact, this is my second Echo chainsaw. Would definitely recommend.
This chainsaw is a very good machine, a little bit heavy but manageable. The only complaint I have is about the chain that came with it, only lasted about 2 1/2 cuts on a medium size tree. Tried to sharpen it but it did not help. Luckily, I had purchased a new chain at the same time which worked really well
so far so good used it today for the first time and I was pleased with it. not quite up to my Husky 346XP professional grade saw which it replaces but close and much better price point. I can see the cs-4920 getting higher grades as I use it more but definitely so far son good after oner day.
The power of the saw is much better than others I have used from this engine size. Only issue I've had is the tensioner broke on day two of light use. I got the saw replaced and I understand these things can happen. The second saw made it through two days of use and then refused to crank up. I replaced the spark plug, cleaned the carb and air filter, did all forms of work and it just wouldn't turn over. Replaced that one as well. The one I currently have is the third one and so far it's been a straight up workhorse over the last week.
The CS-4920 is by far the easiest chainsaw to start that I've ever had. Bone cold I can get her going with three or four pulls and when warm she starts on the first pull every time and idles like a champ! I leaned out the hijet about a quarter of a turn or less and at high speed It's beautiful. This engine is sweet. There is however one what I would call fatal flaw. It doesn't oil well at all with an Oregon bar on it. I can't say how it would do with an Echo bar because I don't have one. The 4920 uses a small husky tail mount. And the way it picks up oil is different than the 4910. The oil gallery is engineered in a very odd way. Instead of just being a straight slot like most saws, it has a 45° gallery lead in and when the chain is new and shortish this 45° gallery overlaps with the large diameter chain adjustment hole and all of the oil just pours out the bottom of the saw. I think that if this saw had bar guide plates, this might not be an issue, but it doesn't have those plates. The bar simply rubs up against the plastic and it's not a solid surface. On this particular tail mount of saw the large holes don't carry the oil but a smaller separate hole above there does and unfortunately this was engineered incorrectly. I'm going to have to take the saw in for a warranty because I'm burning up my chain. I really want to love this saw and I think it's beautiful but this fatal flaw is just that, fatal.
