Powerful saw in a compact size

Adam 5150 July 28, 2015

I bought this saw several weeks ago to use on a small tree trimming job. It is the perfect size for ANYTHING but felling large trees. Compact design leads to flawless one handed operations. Starts on 1st pull every time. Powerful enough to make small work of limbs and clean up. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a professional saw without the big budget. If it's like any of my other echo products that I own (Backpack leaf blower, String trimmer, Hedge trimmer, Chainsaw ) it will give you years of trouble free service and dependability you can count on.

Try it, you will like it!

I recently purchased the CS-271T and yesterday used it for the very first time. It's an amazing saw I that has the features for which I have been searching to keep my 20 acres neatly pruned and trimmed. It performed the cuts I needed to make and did it in an almost effortless way. I am in my late 60's and now see that with the CS 271T there is simply no need to wrestle a clumsy, awkward 15 pound saw to do the work this compact, yet powerful little beauty can do at a fraction of the weight and involved effort. Also, I feel much safer using a saw which is so easy to maneuver and cut with. I just wish I would have switched to ECHO a long time ago.

CS-271T

This saw is a cutting little dude. I have a big saw that I use for felling trees and cutting firewood. This saw will never replace that one, but for limbing and cutting small stuff out of the way to get to the big tree that I want to cut down, this saw is awesome. I have also used it for cutting branches along a fence line I have that goes down a pretty nasty hillside - I really like the light weight of this saw for that job. Don't buy this saw to cut a winters worth of firewood, but get it for the small stuff - trimming, limbing, etc. You won't be disappointed. For the price you can't beat it.

Super light yet very powerful

Big Timothy August 25, 2020

The reason I purchased this particular chainsaw is that I stupidly let a friend borrow my Husqvarna 36 and when it was returned it needed a new cylinder, ignition, etc.. Words to the wise and also part of the bro code, “don't ever let someone use your chainsaw...ever. Anyway, we had a 130 foot poplar tree removed a couple of months ago and I noticed the skinny guy in the bucket sawing the huge 15 inch in diameter limbs with no problem and he was swinging that saw like it was a feather. When he came down for a break I told him that for a skinny guy he handled that saw like it didn't weigh but a pound. That's when he handed the saw to me and I was shocked at how light this thing is. Light and powerful, what more could you ask for if you are going to be cutting wood all day. I purchased one not to long after that and I am still amazed at how light it is but also the power this little thing has.

Handy and Powerful Saw

stubby50 May 31, 2015

I purchased the CS-271T about a month ago and couldn't be happier. The saw is light, convenient and powerful. My Wife loves cutting the small limbs with the saw while I then cut the thicker pieces. When I get tired using a larger Echo saw, I switch to the 271-T for a break and it cuts well. This was a very good purchase.

Bought this little saw about a month ago for carving. Good running saw and cuts very good for it's small size. I would recommend this saw to anyone needing a small dependable saw. I have always chose Sti__ saws before but ,I am sold on echo now. My next saw will be a Echo.

Great light weight trim saw.

Tigger June 1, 2015

Had the saw about a month now and trimmed a lot of oak trees in my yard. Cut several limbs that were 6" plus with no problem. The older I get the more I need a light weight, but powerful, saw. The 271T fits the bill. I had a Sthil 192T which has a larger engine so I was a little worried about the saw not having enough power. This was not he case.

Love it!

I bought the Echo CS-271T about a month ago from Acme in Victoria, TX. the guys were very helpful in helping me decide on the right saw. This saw worked great for climbing around in a tree. The lightweight & power of the saw aloud us to maneuver quickly & efficiently, saving time & man hours. Worth every dollar.

Good saw.

Ty Tolene August 28, 2018

I am a meticulous mechanical engineer. I bought this saw new 1 month ago, and have climbed with it twice. Upon opening box for assembly, I noticed many sharp plastic edges. I spent some time deburring and smoothing the lanyard attachment hole, air box to handle, and handle to kill switch area. Echo could definitely improve their plastic injection molds along seams, slides, and parting lines by adding radiuses and eliminating plastic flash. This work should be done once on the mold...not thousands of times by customers. After reading instructions, setting up the bar, and adding fuel/oil I started the engine for a test cut. Saw required lots of priming and 15-20 pulls on the rope handle. Second and third start ups were 5 pulls. Saw cut fast and easily thru a 8" white pine limb. This was clean up at ground level. Chain teeth are very sharp. Next day I climbed and delimbed a dying Ash tree up to 40'. Saw cut good thru hard wood. Occasional saw chain did a bounce/vibration while making notch cuts with top side of bar. This may be normal if chain depth of cut is set for a thicker chip. I did not measure cutting edge to raker. Saw is lightweight and maneuverable. I climbed with it for 3-4 hours on geckos with flip line for positioning, and had a top anchor life line at 60' crotch. Saw is very controllable. I stopped back cuts short, clipped echo saw to belt, and finished back cut with silky hand saw. Echo took 2-3 pulls to start while in the tree. Occasionally 1 pull. A consistent 1 pull would be ideal. Note to Echo engineers: in your lifetime warranted CDI ignition circuit use a better main capicator that discharges more energy to the spark plug. Keep the intensity and Increase the dwell time to triple the micro-seconds of spark duration. This will improve starting to one pull every time. So far I am pleased with the Echo 12" 271 top handle! Ty

Great value for the price.

Mark00 December 2, 2018

Just bout this at the start of winter and im pleased with the performance of it. Its supper light has good power for being so small. Only thing I dislike is the small filling caps for fuel and oil. Can't use a big container or your gonna spill oil and fuel on your saw. Other than that, I solved the problem with just a smaller bottle of oil and I'm using the small quart fuel cans to make things ez.
