Best value overall

JG12 April 17, 2025

Best value overall, echo doesn't disappoint. I'm more of a diy person, I prefer to buy quality tools vs constantly replacing cheaper tools. Since I won't be using my chainsaw daily I purchased this CS-501P with 20" chain because I wanted something that will start every time regardless of use and echo is it for me. Echo makes quality equipment, I've never had issues. Can't go wrong with echo and you can't beat this cs501p. Extremely satisfied with my purchase.

Echo CS-501P. Good saw so far.

Anonymous August 10, 2025

I have owned the chainsaw for a couple of weeks, so I can't comment on the long term reliability or performance of the saw. But, it has performed very well in the short amount of time that the saw has been used. It is much easier to start than my other chainsaw and performs just as well.

Great saw

JT24 October 12, 2025

Great saw, we use it commercially and love it. Lightweight but still strong enough to run a 20" bar, works great on the ground and as a medium sized climbing saw.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've only had my saw a short time but so far I am very happy with it! Great power to weight ratio! I have many Echo products weedeater, blower, stick edger I believe the cost and dependability cannot be beat!

So far so good!

Javatv December 11, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] New saw has about 3 hours on and runs like a champ. Inital startup was choke on, 3 cranks, cut choke off started on the fourth pull. Cold start now choke on, 3 cranks starts, warm start no choke first crank! The saw seems to have plenty of power for my use, I was cutting 12 to 16" oak without issue, it is light weight and easy to handle! Love it.

Ultra light hotrod

Millwright138 November 4, 2019

This saw weighs about the same as my “other” major brand 35cc saw and has twice the power. The balance is great this combined with a 20” bar works great for limbing and bucking logs. I've buried the bar into a fairly hard dried Douglas Fir and just ate wood not bogging. It's still very new so I don't have a long term durability opinion yet but the construction and build quality is first class. This saw is worth the extra cost without a doubt. It does the job of at least two saws and with a the bare minimum of plastic components it will age extremely well.

Awesome little saw

Dirtysanchez March 29, 2020

Bought this a month ago and have cut down and bucked 4 apple trees and has performed flawlessly. The factory warranty plus parts availability online is also a plus. Bought this also for its size. Fits on the front or rear rack of my Polaris sportsman xp1000 and will be used to trim any downed trees while riding the trails.

Typical Echo superior quality

Sold on Echo April 2, 2020

I bought this saw because I have many pieces of Echo equipment and they all are superior to the competition. I a we 73 years old and I need the decompressor to be able to start a saw. It is a step above most other saws even other Echo saws like the 490. If you never have owned echo equipment you are missing out. I am fortunate to have a local shop that services what he sells. Prompt service and a knowledge of his products. A suggestion, if you buy and echo products go for the. X line, they are well worth the extra money.

Great features. Good power. Cuts like a dream.

ltdnsc January 30, 2020

Bought this as an upgrade for another orange-colored saw I have that had become a nightmare to start and keep running. I had researched the Echo line and liked what I saw for features and positive reviews from owners. I don't use a chainsaw for a living, but have a fair amount of property and woods and wanted something in the 50cc class that was reliable. Decided to give the 501P a try. Only have about 8 hours of cutting on it at this point, but so far I'm very happy with it. Mine has the 18" bar and so far I have bucked some oak limbs that were just shy of 18" in diameter and it did beautifully. Excellent throttle response and power, and very well balanced with the 18" bar. Initially, I had a little trouble getting it started, but I think it was a combination of being brand new and me getting to know the start sequence and how much choke the saw preferred. Have had no trouble since. Has a little more vibration through the handle than my old saw, but only at idle - don't notice it at all when you are cutting - and it cuts like a dream. Have limited experience with it so far, but in terms of design improvements I would recommend for the future, I have one. The choke control "rod" from the button to the carburetor linkage is made of plastic and it is hard to tell if you have the choke control all the way out when you pull on it - I had to remove the air filter to see if the choke was fully closing. Since this is a part that gets a lot of use, and the "feel" is not good, I would recommend the use of steel linkage all the way to the carb. But this is a minor nit - based on my experience so far, I highly recommend this Echo model. Thanks.

Overall a good saw.

13013 January 3, 2020

I've only got 6 tanks through it so it's too early to say anything about longevity, but so far it's been a reliable saw and has an excellent oiler. It's incredibly light, but despite enjoying that feature it really should have been built with a magnesium clutch cover to be considered a pro saw, I hope Echo will consider this in the future. I don't like that the fuel tank pressurizes to the point of making the fuel cap difficult to remove, none of my other saws do this. Additionally, whether I burp the oil tank or not it leaks like a sieve when it's sitting. All things considered, I'm happy with the purchase and will consider other Echo products in the future.
