My neighbor let me borrow one just like this made by Stihl and I really liked it as it extends to about 10ft via siding out the inner shaft. It gives you the reach you need to get to those high branches that hang down. It is well made and beefy (its heavy and will give you a work out). Echo makes a good product and I believe this one has more power than the Stihl one I used which was probably 8yrs old when I used it last year and Walmart has the best price at $150 less than others. After assembly an fuilds it started right up. Let it run for a few minutes to warm up and break in a little then gave it some gas. Sputtered a little a first then smoothed out and ran like a champ. Took about a minute of off and on throttle after warm up to get where it would go to high rpm upon full throttle but again part of the break in process. Kinda acted like a EFI motor and the ECM and it had to figure out the best parameters lol. But no it has a carborator.
Excellent pole saw. I've used the stihl 135 pole saw which is their comparable model and like the echo better. I have several stihl chainsaws and a couple Husqvarna saws as well. I have the echo pole saw along with the 620 pw and the 2511t echo chainsaws. The echos have been my go to saws now when I go to cut. Always start on just 2-3 pulls and run strong. Best value for the money in my opinion. I'm not knocking the other brands. All my saws have been excellent but I think echo offers the most value. I can't speak to the quality of their home owner line but anything in their professional or x series are great products
I love this pole saw! I looked at Stihl and Husqvarna and this one beat them both in all categories. True 2 stroke, better built, better warranty and cheaper than both, especially the Stihl! Everyone knows Echo is the way to go.
This saw is nicely balanced and heavy duty. The engine starts easily and runs with plenty of power. It seems this is a professional quality saw that is available to the average homeowner.
I bought the pole saw two weeks ago and have used it twice. I am retired and did not want to be climbing a ladder with a chaisaw to trim my trees. I am not a big guy so the saw is heavy but very well balanced. It extends to reach about 12' into the trees so removing all the low branches is quick and easy. The reason the saw is heavy is that it is built to last and has lots of power, it rips thru 3" branches with no effort. I could have bought the fiixed lenght pole saw and saved some weight but having the extra reach is worth the cost and the extra weight. I own several Echo tools and they all continue to perform well, they start with only a couple of pulls on the starter cord and they run strong for years, they are costly but you get what you pay for, I love the performance and the balance. The 5 year warranty gives me peace of mind knowing I will get my moneys worth.
I have a little experience with using chainsaws but this is the first I ever bought. I honestly couldn't really be happier It's works like a dream. Just a few simple steps to assemble and starts right up. I didn't imagine it would be so quiet. Like a low little purrr. Has started right up and cut right through Everytime . It is a little heavy fully extended , but is to be expected when holding an engine and a chain on a long stick. Surely one of my favorite new tools I've bought this year. Totally worth spending a couple hundred more to get something you know is going to work well for the years to come. And I wouldn't suggest buying anything but this!
Bought this about a month ago and this thing is a beast. I have a lot of huge oak trees I'm trimming up and this pole saw makes easy work of it. So far only had to adjust the chain once unlike many other saws. Cuts fast and true. Only down side is it is a little on the heavy side but with the strap you can rest your arms.
I haven't used it enough yet to give a good review but, it is well built. The only thing that I do know is that it's VERY HEAVY!!... I'm 68 years old and wonder if I made a mistake!!...I would like to see if I can get a shorter shaft assembly.
I've been wanting a new pole saw for work around our farm and forests for some time but never found a reason to actually make the purchase. Getting a new tractor with a cab required that I get one with extended reach to clear the paths so that my tractor's cab didn't get ripped apart due to low hanging branches that are everywhere. I had researched for a long time and had settled on the Echo over the competition. It came mostly assembled and setup was quick. I've now run the saw for several hours in various conditions and I'm happy with the purchase. Just the design of something that can reach as high as this unit will make it feel heavy in a short while. Gravity and physics are laws, not suggestions so it's good to take your time and take small breaks when fatigue sets in. As it happens, a large hickory tree broke at the base and fell onto our shop doing quite severe damage to the roof. Other than the obvious holes in the roof and broken rafters, it was very difficult to see the extent of the damage due to the foliage and large spread of the branches on the roof. To clean up the mess, I decided to use the PPT-2620 to remove all of the branches from a safe distance while not needing to bend over and entangle myself in the mess. This worked very well and the PPT-2620 have the tree delimbed and the branches ready for chipping in no time. The operation was safer since I could stay back from the limbs as I was cutting them to gain access to the larger pieces. After using the saw in various positions, and conditions, I have confidence that this was a good purchase. While it feels heavy do to the nature of saws like this, it is also confidence inspiring as it is built well. On a more technical note, one mechanism that is typically weak on saws like this is the bar oiling system, bar tensioning, and clamping. I feel like Echo nailed this design with the dual clamping and side access chain adjusting just like a "real" chainsaw. The overall power is quite ample for the kinds of things you should be cutting with a unit like this and with the 12" bar, I've easily taken 10" limbs down. I may get the extension to add another few feet to it at some point, just because I can, but otherwise this is a fantastic unit. I'm realistic in my expectations and use, but don't abuse my equipment. Like I've mentioned, if I could have one wish, I would make it a little lighter without sacrificing power or overall ruggedness. I'm not sure that's possible without also making it dramatically more expensive with exotic materials. Overall if you want a fantastic gas pole saw that's built well and can extend higher than anything else out there (with optional extension), this is the one. 4.5/5.0 Stars.
First off, I am a hard core DIYer. I bought this saw about a month ago and have used it twice so far. I have about 6 forested acres and will be using it to provide fire clearance over the next 6 months or so. It works great and has great reach. The downside is, it is heavy. Using the provided shoulder strap helps, but does limit the reach a few feet. Over all I rate the saw 4 stars. If it was just a few pounds lighter, it would rate 5 stars. I do recommend it because it works great. It is expensive, but for the quality you get it is worth it. I also own a Echo chainsaw and love it.
