Echo X Series 17In 56V Eforce String Trimmer Brushless Motor (Bare Tool)

I purchased this Echo DSRM-2600 to replace an Echo SRM 3020-U trimmer/brush-cutter. Initially, the 3020U was an excellent machine that was exactly what was needed to contend with the tall grass, thick weeds, and small saplings on the hillside of the property. However, after a few passes, saplings were removed and grass and weeds were "under control." Then the 3020-U became something of a burden principally because of its size, its power, and its weight. It was just more than I needed (or could handle for a long period) to maintain the property. I decided to downgrade to a lighter, easier to handle unit, but one that still offered "professional grade" power and reach because of the nature of the property. I also wanted to move from gas power to battery power principally for fuel and maintenance cost purposes. After reading and watching reviews I chose the DSRM-2600 with the 5.0 Ah battery, rapid charger. So far, I am delighted with my choice. At first I was concerned about the weight of the battery and its location, but the unit has excellent balance. The long, straight shaft lets me get under bushes, and of course the Speed Feed head works great. One other thought: I acquired this unit towards the end of the growing season and the battery had sufficient power for me to complete my trimming in about 50 minutes or so on one charge with some to spare. In late spring and summer when the stuff is really growing it can often take two hours and a refill of the gas tank. Last month I started my 90th trip around the Sun, so next year, if I have to stop trimming to recharge the battery, I'll likely consider that a bonus.

I have used a lot of different string trimmers over the years. This one works! Used with a 5ah battery, it's capable of knocking out a ton of edging and trimming on a 0.6 acre lot with ease. Love the feed from the excellent head design. No more time wasted with managing the tool - just gets the job done.

This trimmer is lighter and more powerful on low than the ego trimmer that it replaced. I couldn't be happier with it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a week ago as a replacement for another Echo String Trimmer that the autowind button broke. It has several features that are really great. Choice of two spool speeds for one and extremely easy to assemble.

This thing absolutely screams. My back is a bit trashed, so using trimmers, w/ straps, w/ handles etc, has always been an issue. I'm not claiming this is the cure, but I can tell a major difference. I have used an echo srm225 for years and it's a good trimmer, but the power difference between it and this are night and day. This thing turns heavy grass and fines into a green mist. Granted, I'm filthy, but man does it rip!

I bought this three years ago and love it. No extension cords. No noisy gas engine. I can easily trim and edge my lawn weekly. After triming and edging, I remove the battery and put it into my DPB-2500 hand blower making cleanup a snap. The same battery also fits my DCS-5000 chainsaw and my DHC-2200 hedge trimmer. Is there a pattern here? Yes there is--the Echo line of products make yard maintenance so much easier. Many of my neighbors use lawn services. It makes me feel good when when a landscaper smiles and nods at me as I quickly take care of the detail work.

So far enjoying thee weed eater, light weight enough power for what I do and battery last a long time, at least 45 min.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my Echo gas trimmer for several reasons. First, the ease of starting it. Second, its power. I have had three in 7 years due to it loosing power after around two years of use. The oil that leaks out prevents good air flow, no matter how much I clean it. When I squeeze the throttle it slows down then dies completely. I've had people work on it, but nothing seems to work! That is my only complaint because they are not cheap weedeaters.

The tool it self is easy to use, powerful enough to get the job done, however I do think that the design could have been improved by either enclosing the battery with a lid/cover as I find it quite hard to remove the battery once some dust/sand falls on it.
