I switched to Ecobee from another popular smart thermostat brand because there was a lot of things that really bugged me about that thermostat. The Ecobee 3 Lite blew me away. The advanced features it gives you for those of us that understand what these extra settings are for, are just amazing. I was surprised at how well engineered the Ecobee thermostat is, the thought that went into the design, settings and functions. It literally does everything I could want and things I didn't even know I wanted. I know calm down right, it's just a WiFi Thermostat. NOPE. It's how ALL WiFi thermostats should be made and how they should function. It gives you plenty of abilities if you want them, but without forcing anything onto you or making things confusing. You get to decide what type of setup and how things will work for you. Eg: Just a "Hold this temperature" type setup, or a program to run at desired times, or when you are away, asleep, or awake etc. I just wish that I had bought this Thermostat sooner. I was missing out for so long and was frustrated with my other thermostat needlessly. Even the little sensors you can put into other rooms to make your home more comfortable. Just WOW! They thought of it all. My house is so much more comfortable now and my Ecobee thermostat is taking care of it all flawlessly. Bravo to the Ecobee team for engineering an amazing thermostat. You folks nailed it! Thank you for making such a wonderful device with all the advanced features you could ever want. You have made me a customer for life and I will be converting my friends and family as well!
I've had these sensors for about eight months now and they've been nothing short of amazing. Each comfort setting can utilize a different combination of sensors. So during the day, I have my home take the average of all sensors and when I go to bed, I just have it utilize the sensor in my bedroom so that the temperature stays consistent throughout the night. I turned off follow mode as I didn't find it worked very well for my home and would create temperature inconsistencies in the home. Having it take the average of both sensors and the thermostat seems to keep the house a lot more consistent and eliminate cold spots without the follow me feature. Overall, a worthwhile purchase!
Sensors help system regulate whole house temperature. Contemplating buying another set to further the capabilities of the Ecobee3. Worth the price (which was cheaper than Amazon).
Ecobee's SmartSensor is simply perfect! It is actually one of the secret ingredients to making your home feel just right. It's designed to pick up both temperature and motion, so your thermostat knows not just how warm or cool a room is, but whether someone's actually there. You can place it in rooms where you spend the most time—like your bedroom or home office—and it'll help your thermostat balance comfort in those areas, rather than just where the thermostat is installed. It's like giving your thermostat a set of eyes and ears around your home so it can keep you cozy and help save energy without you lifting a finger. Let me know if you'd like help getting it set up—I'm happy to walk you through it!
I purchased two separate Ecobee thermostats and 3 additional (2 sensors in each pack) packs of sensors. I have sensors that can help control the temperature for different times of the day - e.g., keep the kids room warm at night. This has been the most important feature for me over the numerous other smart thermostats out there. Plus these sensors are small and cute and I rarely have to ever change the batteries.
This extra sensor pack comes with 2 sensors - they are terrific for helping the ecobee blend into the background and make you more comfortable. I love their integration with homekit - they can give motion status as well as temperature though it would be nice if the motion updated a little bit more frequently. The batteries last for about a year and can be changed pretty easily
The room sensors are what really make the Ecobee great. They help balance the home temperature and allow the system to accurately know when you are home and if certain rooms are off balance. For example, we can use these to get the system to keep the bedroom a bit cooler at night. You can tell the system to ignore certain sensors for part of the day during one of your profiles. Like if one room is in direct sunlight during the day and you don't want to cool the whole house more just to keep that room cooler.
So I got a two pack of ecobee sensors yesterday, it is a good idea but don't work the best as it averages out the temperatures and prioritizes the room you are in. So as I was downstairs it was warmer and the heat did not kick in making the temperatures upstairs drop slightly but more in my room as no heat was running. I usually keep my heat at 21.5 but the temperature in my room was 20, so when occupied the furnace had to run long and hard to get it up to 21.5. As I prioritize that room it keep that room at 21.5 while the rest of the house was hot. But as it averages out on the main thermostat it will read a wrong, 21 as you can see. I had my other thermostat above and it was 24 degrees.. while in my room was 22 because it overshot. Don't recommend them. The ecobee thermostat itself is great with a proper set schedule, do not use these sensors.
Product will not mount on the wall using the supplied wall mount. This failure turns a great idea into a waste of money
We have had them send out THREE replacements and no matter what we do, we can't get these to sync with our ecobee, we finally just had to give up on two of the three new ones that we bought.....and the ones that do sync, have completely wrong Temps. We're sweating profusely in our home, yet the sensors say our home is at 68°. It's like a sauna. We're so disappointed in Ecobee products.
