Easy to install. My boyfriend said it took him 18 minutes to set up. I love that I can access it from the app where I already have my thermostat connected. I'm so glad to finally be done with my "dumb" doorbell. I love the security add-on as well, I already feel at ease knowing I can get alerts for when I'm away.
The doorbell has been installed for about 1 month. I love it. The camera quality is excellent. I also purchased the premium Ecobee Thermostat. I am very happy with that as well.
Had a hard time setting it up primarily due to power supply pproblems. Started a return but geeks on to it until I tried something else to fix the issue. Had to purchase a different adapter/transformer to power it up and it worked but not after spending more money to operate it. But overall, it worked well after that, so I canceled the return.
Love your thermostat! But it appears you are still requiring a subscription for the useful features of the doorbell. I'd love to buy a doorbell, but it's just not intelligent to pay for a subscription. I'd be willing to pay the subscription if you give the doorbell away.
I love how the camera can be hardwired to low voltage power as well as it's ability to display who is at the door on all of my ecobee thermostat. My only gripe is that you have to pay for a subscription just to view a video clip of who is at your door, which seems ridiculous. I can understand if you have to pay for video recording history in the cloud, but the viewing of a short video clip of who's at your door should be free.
Received the doorbell and installed it. The bell doesn't work - had to go through Ecobee support and they are trying to figure out if its the doorbell or chime adapter that is faulty.
Had this unit for a year and it was good. Now it takes so long to respond I pretty much ignore the fact that I have it. If some one rings my bell it takes so long to bring up any video that the person is long gone and I just see nothing, if I'm lucky I see someone walking away. Pointless.
The ecobee door bell has complaints about connectivity and the speed at which video becomes available when opening the app. I passed that off as people having poor setups. I have one of the most over the top home network setups you can have, and video still lags, doesn't show up on thermostats correctly, and takes 20ish seconds to arrive in app. The doorbell spuriously identifies nonexistent people and sends alerts, will send you dozens of package alerts when one is left on your doorstep, and fails to connect video when someone actually rings your doorbell. Avoid this like the plague. The doorbell is obviously underpowered in processing and networking. The integration would be awesome if it wasn't buggy and underperforming. I'd consider returning this if I didn't drill new holes in my door frame for it. If I were you, I'd wait for the doorbell premium V2 that there will inevitably release.
The app is so slow that by the time you are able to pull up the video whoever rang the doorbell is likely to be gone. It can take up to a minute to connect. Mine is only about 10 ft from my 5gz router on a gigbit connection so the connection speed is a non-issue. I've messed with it for 2 years and have finally given up
I've had this doorbell for about 3-4 years and recently it goes offline a lot. I have to reset to factory settings and set it up. It goes offline at least 3-4 times a month. Had my home checked thinking it could be my WIFI but it wasn't. Very disappointing.
