I bought this jacket for my daughter and granddaughter. They both love it. It looks great on them, and is very comfortable in the Florida winter. My daughter took hers to San Fransisco with her in the late winter, and found out how comfortable this jacket is. Nice that you can layer it, or wear it by itself. I have since bought 2 more for my other granddaughters in the girls sizes, and 1 for my grandson in the boys size. I am now thinking that I may buy one for myself!!
I have an Eddie Bauer coat that is still in great shape after 10 years. I am a coat person and with many coats, I still grab this old coat during very cold weather. I would like to replace it with a new, exact, coat in another color, but obviously the style is discontinued. It's the E B T E K, old catalog #00665. I will keep searching the inventory until I find a similar one. Also, I have a coffee travel mug that has been traveling with me every morning to work for many years. It's another Eddie Bauer favorite! Thank you Eddie Bauer!
Truly, if you can purchase the jacket on sale, you will love the EB/FA 2.0 microtherm with a hood. As a comparison, we have the Kuhl (long jacket) from two years ago and the EB/FA jacket is warmer, even as a traditional hip-length cut. The Plum color is perfect and goes with just about everything we own, EB or other manufacturers. Temperature-wise, the jacket is thinner than the Kuhl but somehow warmer. The fill factor by EB must be more dense and compact compared to our Kuhl full-length jacket. At the very base of the jacket, the hips area is a bit snug (or seals tightly) to prevent air getting up through the jacket.
I purchased this jacket looking for a lightweight warm leisure wear jacket that could also go over my very thin Eddie Bauer Women's MicroTherm® StormDown™ vest, if I wanted to wear them in combination. And I have not been disappointed. The jacket has become my "go to" option for winter wear. The hood is snug and warm for windy cold days. I only wish it was a little longer in the body to come down over my hips a bit more to make it warmer and to not have my work fleece hang below it! The jacket runs small. I always buy smalls but I needed a medium in this jacket. It also would not be a good choice for short armed or large busted women.
very disappointed not fitting, usually small size is right for me.
I'm actually 4' 10" but there's no option for that. I love Eddie Bauer and especially their puffers, but this one is so extremely stinky in the armpits. I've never had a jacket do this before.
Wanted a thin, packable jacket for climbing Rainier, but returned as this would not fit the bill. Even on a balmy MN day this wouldn't keep me warm. Held up to the light you can see huge patches where the insulation was completely missing. Wasn't warm at all. It's thin though, and compresses down well. Just nothing to it. Looks cute though, nice pockets.
The shell of the jacket is somewhat opaque and you can see through it enough to see the dark colored down inside, which makes the jacket look dirty or stained. Not at all a good thing, so we are returning it for a refund and will try a different product.
These jackets are a good look, not so puffy you look like marshmallows but definitely warm. It's just the zipper. I am so confused my EB gets so stingy on the zippers. This is my 2 or 3 return on different jackets with zipper issues. Seriously EB what do we gotta do to get a decent zipper on an otherwise well made product. It's like on the production line the quality check everything but the zippers.
The shoulders are HUGE and smaller in the waist..just fit very weird. I bought it because I was able to get 50% off, I do not think it is worth the full price. Also the fabric in the shoulders is not the same as the rest of the coat, wouldn't be very warm in those areas, or wouldn't block the wind very well. I will be returning the coat.
