Yes, it runs small, as in tight around the arms. I wanted to jog and snowshoe in it and I felt uncomfortable swinging my arms around in size L - my usual size tops are M or L. I wear it over a long underwear base layer and a light fleece mid layer. If it wasn't cold enough to need fleece, why would I be jogging in a down jacket? Seems like they should have figured that out and sized these big enough for comfortable layering. Anyway, I got the xlarge and love it. I haven't seen a similar jacket with the stretch fabric under the arms - this is very, very comfortable for winter sports. I can go jogging or snowshoeing in 20 - 30 degree weather and be comfortable, which seems kind of amazing. As long as I'm moving, it keeps me a perfect temperature. The hood stays up, and is great too, although I wear a hat and use the hood only when I am in an actual blizzard, which happens with some regularity in north western PA. My dog looks at me puzzled, like how can you sound so upbeat in this ridiculous weather?
I am not much for big puffy coats because of the bulk, but this is a great compromise, the fit is great and it's warm. I love the hood and it compresses really well into a tiny pocket. I have worn it everyday since I got it to work, out to dinner, and on the trail in wind and snow and sleet. Love it!
This jacket was exactly what I wanted. I have the longer version of this jacket also. But wanted the short for days/outfits that I didn't want to wear a longer jacket. I am 5'1 and have a longer torso. So I ordered the regular in a medium. (I had ordered a petite originally but it was to short in the torso) It fits nicely through the body. There is room under the jacket for me to wear a sweater and not feel stuffed into the jacket. The sleeves are maybe a half inch too long but its nothing that is bothersome. This is a great jacket for those days that are mid thirties and up when I am running errands. It has kept me warm in movie theaters without being overly warm. I also like it because its not a typical down coat. I have one of those for colder weather or longer exposure to outside. If you are being active it does its job and keeps you warm - but it is also versatile enough for standing in for a light jacket should you need it.
Jacket was just what I was looking for! Tall runs long enough in sleeves and torso. Fitted, athletic style. I find that it is perfect for 30-50 degrees (fall, winter, spring) depending on what you layer and your actively level. I wanted something that was not bulky, warm and could travel well.
I needed a coat to travel cold months in Europe without having to pack something bulky. I went with this one because it compacts down, it's flexible, warm, and fit perfectly. I'm 5'2", 115 lbs, and the PS fits like it was meant for me. I plan to use lighter base layers under it, and there'll be plenty of room for ease of movement. I was happy to catch it on sale.
Jacket is good. Good warmth. Everything they advertised. Only thing is the zipper is cheap and i have struggled many times in the short time wearing this (3x) s since its arrival.— the zipper gets stuck pulling up or stuck pulling down and it splits down below. Very frustrating. To the point I want to throw out. Very disappointed in the quality of the zipper. On another note. I notice that the men's has an accessible pocket on the outside vs. the women's jacket is on the inside. Additionally. The inside of the rim of the men's version was red w the blue outer color. Whereas the women's jacket was just the plain inside of the jacket color. Why? The men's is much nicer looking. I should have gotten then men's jacket.
very disappointed not fitting, usually small size is right for me.
I'm actually 4' 10" but there's no option for that. I love Eddie Bauer and especially their puffers, but this one is so extremely stinky in the armpits. I've never had a jacket do this before.
The shell of the jacket is somewhat opaque and you can see through it enough to see the dark colored down inside, which makes the jacket look dirty or stained. Not at all a good thing, so we are returning it for a refund and will try a different product.
I bought this to wear while snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or just walking on the trail near my home. I live in Iowa where it gets cold, however today was relatively mild (in the 20s) and the wind went right through this thin coat. I thought it was thin, but it was supposed to be warm. It isn't. I want to return it, but don't know if I can since I wore it. It is so expensive to be so worthless in the cold weather.
