Pros: Cheap, comfortable, leather, toe and heel scuff guards, waterproof. Cons: Cheap, waterproofing doesn't breathe. Summary: You get what you pay for. These boots have no arch support, a roomy toebox, and roomy midfoot. Being flat footed, I like the flat sole. If you need support, you may need an extra insole. You can moderate how the shoe feels by how tight you make the laces. The round laces make it easy to adjust, but hard to keep knotted. I had to double loop. In the 18 months prior to this review I've hiked 220 miles in other brands. I tried these on a difficult hike in Ouray, Colorado. No shank (stiff plate) means roots and rocks are felt underfoot. Sole is less grippy than Vibram or other brands. The waterproof feature means your feet get hot and don't breathe. Boots are best for cooler weather. If you're a casual hiker, these boots are fine. They'll last a few years. For anything more serious, they are one season shoes so consider something better. These are slightly better than similar offerings from other big box stores.
Bought these for my husband for work. He says they are comfortable but his feet are soaked within minutes of getting them wet. It rained today and he's only been at work for an hour and has to spend the rest of the day with wet feet now. Disappointed I threw the box away or I would return them.
The honeycombed insole support of The Eddie Bauer Hiking Boot collapse in short time. Reaching inside you can feel the broken-down honeycomb webbed support structure through the thin insole. Outside and sole still look relatively new. Second issue is little or no arch support. Poorly structured boot for hiking or general yard work
These boot are not very comfortable nor rugged. Mine started coming apart only after two hikes. I don't do a lot of hiking and it is a good thing I would need a better boot. A few years ago Sams Club sold a better boot but this one is cheep.
We just put these on my prosthetic legs. Will know more this afternoon after I've walked on them for 3 - miles. I walk this far 4 days a week. I have both legs amputated below knees and drive a manual 4 speed truck and I need good boots with good soles. These will work just fine I'm pretty sure of that.
I need men's shoes, because they tend to be sturdy, and women's shoes tend to be too uncomfortable across the widest part of my feet. I need orthotic insoles, and when I put these in, the Eddie Bauer boots fit perfectly. I think it's a good idea to have more than one pair of boots for hiking and walking, and this price makes it easy to afford. For those who need a waterproof boot, you
Bought these for my husband and he loves them. Very sturdy and comfortable.
Just bought these for 30$ Great deal imo They look nice and feel good on the feet too. Not complaints thus far.
