Educational Insights Hot Dots Jr. Pete The Cat Kindergarten Rocks Workbook Set with Interactive Pen

Hot Dots are a favorite with my children! Hot Dots are a fun, educational learning toy that my kids love. We have spent the last week playing with the new Pete the Cat Kindergarten Rocks version and it's spent more time in my child's hands than in the box. This Hot Dots set comes with two books and a Pete the Cat shaped "pen" (requires two AAA batteries). The marking pen has the option to play sound or silence, that make a whimsical sound when choosing an answer in the books. The books are age and grade appropriate and follow the curriculum my child is currently learning, including math, shapes, and language arts. This set also includes a sheet of Pete the Cat stickers and a certificate to give your child when they complete the books. We have always had a love for Hot Dots but the addition of the beloved children's character Pete the Cat makes us love this set even more.

My 5 year old loved this set. In her words, "It's awesome. Pete is a very cool cat. I love him very much." She loves the book series so that motivated her along with the stickers. The Hot Dots are great for instant feedback and reinforcing correct answers. As a Kindergarten teacher some of the questions are a bit hard, especially for beginning of the year. It is not an independent activity unless you're reading on a 1st and above reading level. With an adult reading the questions it's a great activity for K kids although some questions (long vowels, capitalization) may need explanation.

This set has been a great addition to our homeschooling resources. Being homeschoolers we didn't have to prepare our daughter for school and therefore my daughter was not familiar with Pete the cat stories prior to receiving this set, but after watching YouTube, she loves his songs. My five year old only recently began to read so she can't do the books completely on her own yet, but she has lots of fun with them. She loves the noises that the Pete the cat pen makes and she enjoys working her way through the interesting activities in the books. I like that the pen has a muted but lighted mode, too, for more quiet times. The stickers are a bonus incentive and I like that the books have a specific place to put them. We are very pleased with this set and definitely recommend it. We did receive a free set in exchange for our honest opinion about it.

Pete the cat pen is holding a guitar, and offers encouragement to children. The Pete the cat pen can be used for any dot book. Pete the cat pen requires two AAA, which are not included. This set comes with two awesome easy to use books. They are also brightly colored making bit fun to look at! My son doesn't even realize he is not just playing he's learning. If the child is correct the pen lights up green, my son gets excited. Pete the cat pen also congratulates the child. How encouraging! This set teaches reading,math, and science making it fun for the child. My son does not like doing traditional workbooks. However, he loves hot dots jr, and he loves Pete the Cat. Pete the Cat is a gender neutral character from a book series, and he just made hot dots jr a lot more fun. The questions in these hot dots are age appropriate for kindergarten. My son loves hot dots buthe loves having a pete the cat pen. He loves the music that comes out as well. This has made learning even more fun with this new verison. I would recommend this to anyone who wants their child to learn while having fun. This can keep myson busy at home and on the go. Love that there are other books as well in the pete the cat series.

My son enjoys his Pete the Cat Kindergarten Rocks and was eager to open it. He likes the fact that he can play and learn at the same time. I was surprised how well he was able to navigate through the books with the pen with minimal help. This is truly what every kindergartner should have.

I reviewed the I Love Kindergarten set and I loved it- and I love this set, too! {I rec'd this set in exchange for my honest review.} The Kindergarten Rocks from Pete the Cat is as awesome as the I Love Kindergarten set! I still love the Pete the Cat pen, the great illustrations, and the great quality of this products. Like the first set, this set reviews K concepts- and are slightly more advanced than the last set. Book 1 reviews proper sentence punctuation, number sequence, letter sounds, opposites, additon & subtraction, etc. Book 2 reviews compound words, counting larger numbers, riddles, complex shapes, graphs, rhyming, time, etc. I would recommend this set for anyone who has a Kindergartener in the second half of the year. I also hope the EI makes additional learning books to go along with this Pete the Cat line of Kindergarten products!

Level 2 is just more of the same fun. My son had a great time with this interactive book. He doesn't even see it as learning! He just wants to move the pen so he can see the cat light up and know he is right. Our only difficulty was the pen had to be in the exact center for the green eyes (right answer) to appear. Frustrating when he knows he is right and can't get it in the exact spot the book wants. Otherwise we enjoyed the different content throughout. The pictures and questions were quite engaging. *I received this product for my review and all opinions are my own.

My soon to be 6 year old really enjoyed these! He can't read other than sight words yet so I had to sit with him to do the first book but what is nice is once we did the first book together he was able to do pretty much the entire second book on his own. There is a nice variety of activities and they repeat themselves so he got the hang of what they were asking of him. The only parts he couldn't do were capitalization and food groups because he hasn't learned those yet.

We got this for my child's 4th birthday. She loves it! It worked a few times and then stopped. Even clicking the right answers, the eyes glow wrong (as if it were the wrong answer.) It only marks things wrong now. Didn't even last a full day. Highly disappointed. She was looking forward to this. Emailed support and never heard back.
