It is very motivating and easy to transport
This product was great. My 8 year old daughter hates to read or even do anything in the subject of reading or phonics, and this book she loved it. Its not like they are having to study or do homework, My daughter thought we were playing a game and she didn't want to put it down. Even my 10 year Olsson that has ADHD wanted to play and he was very interested also, and he usually loses interest in things very easy. I would recommend this for kids andkids with ADHD also because it really does keep there interest there always excited to see if they got the answer right or not. As for the pen I reallylike how it talks and knows if the kids got the answer right or wrong. I think all moms and dads should give this a try for there kids. I will be getting more of these for my other kids. g
I love Hot Dot's Let's Master 3rd Grade Reading. It is like a drop of school at home, in their own environment. My granddaughter really liked going through it the first time then liked it when we went over it for practice. She likes to predict what her pen will say. She is more advanced so her favorite part was the advanced lessons they include. I received this product for an open and honest review.
Hot Dots Let's Master Grade 3 Reading includes 2 books with 85 interactive lesson plans, 15 advanced lessons and interactive talking Hot Dots Pen. This teaches children reading comprehension, synonyms and antonyms, homophones and multiple-meaning words, context clues, spelling, punctuation and grammar. Each time the child gives a correct response they are congratulations with sounds, phrases and a glowing green light from the pen. This Hot Dots encourages children to read.
I have 2 sons, one in first grade and the other 2nd grade. I bought this set to help them enrich their reading skills. Both boys find the books fun and they are both learning through it. There are activities geared for both of them. They prefer this over playing on the computer. I love that the pen lights up and talks whether they are correct or not. This is a great activity set for traveling or while waiting for dr. appointments.
I feel like 3rd grade is the year that a child decides whether they like to read or not. This is the year where they start reading mor chapter books and if they are engaged and excelling in reading it is easy to not enjoy it. Reading does so much for a child's imagination, education, vocabulary, and so many other areas of life. I want my child to enjoy reading. Using Hot Dots to help his skills become sharper and more fine tuned helps him enjoy reading more. These books cover topics that include reading comprehension, context clues, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and more. There are also challenge sections to push a child to go further in their skills. Establishing these skills and making sure my child really understands them will help him be successful in his education. Thanks Hot Dots for helping him learn and grow!
I received Hot Dots Let's Master Grade 3 Reading free for review. All opinions are my own. Hot Dots Let's Master Grade 3 Reading includes an interactive talking Hot Dots Pen and two Hot Dots workbooks. The workbooks include questions, and multiple choice answers with a black dot next to each possible response. Your child will use the Hot Dots pen to select an answer by vertically pressing down on one of the dots. If the answer is correct a positive reinforcement will be heard and the pen will light up green. If the answer is wrong, a try again message will sound and the pen will light up red. The Grade 3 Reading books cover topics such as reading comprehension, synonyms, antonyms, homophones, context clues, spelling, punctuation and grammar. The 3rd Grade Reading books are similar to the 2nd grade reading books, containing reading comprehension passages and questions that are just a step more difficult. These are harder to read, but still appropriate for 3rd graders. There are some pictures available to help the kids form context of the words they are reading, but for the most part they are required to understand what they are reading to progress through the books. I love that there is a great mix of language arts concepts in each book including grammar and vocabulary. Overall this is a great supplemental kit for teaching 3rd grade age kids language arts. The pages are durable and made to last through repeated use. These books can be used as a teaching tool and as a review for previous concepts to reinforce those ideas as needed. I recommend this kit to anyone with a 3rd grade aged child. It's a great educational tool to teach language arts to them.
I brought this item for my grandson for Christmas & he loves it, great gift.
I think these products are a really great way to supplement math and reading lessons in an enjoyable and engaging way. I have two third grade boys who spent about 30 minutes playing with Hot Dots Math and Hot Dots Reading the first time we tried the product. They loved using the "pen" and the comments of encouragement amused them. One kind of raced through the math book to find the problem he considered fun (more challenging). The other just worked through the books page by page, occasionally skipping something he thought was "boring," because it was something he'd mastered, or too challenging. I think the books reflect the third grade curriculum very well. The next time we went to use them, they were less interested because they said it felt too much like extra homework. But when I insisted, because I wanted them to get more practice in the areas where they could use some help, they enjoyed the process. I would recommend these products as learning tools, but I would not present them as "toys" or a "game" to third graders because, at least with mine, they think I'm tricking them into just doing work. When I said we would do 10-15 minutes of Hot Dots for extra practice, they were happy to do it.
Doesn't read to the child or read words. Only can use the pen to see if the answer they put the pen on is correct or not. Would rather use LeapFrog products that are more helpful.
