Educational Insights Hot Dots Numbers & Counting Interactive Flashcard Set, Ages 3+

These cards are great, I love that it is interactive, closing the loop on whether a child guessed correctly or not. We also use these cards to review the names of objects on the cards as well as the colors. My son is having a blast with these because he gets to use the pen to see if he's right!

This set is awesome for little ones! Our four year old sits and goes through these cards multiple times. She needs help with the text cards but other than that she does it all by herself. Love the pen that lets them know they got it right too! We are looking to get her more sets of these cards to use.

We really enjoyed this game. My daughter is almost 4 and had a really easy time with the number marching. The cards with number matching to words was a little more difficult for her, but I'm glad it was because it gives her a goal. She caught on very quickly and really enjoyed the pen telling her when she was wrong or right. I like that the box doesn't just throw the cards in there so they get tossed around. It secures the cards and the pens and has a convenient carrying strap. Normally this isn't something I would purchase but I'm glad we received it.

We love our first set of Hot Dots! My son is autistic and recently taken a huge interest in numbers and counting. He really enjoys this set. He loves watching the pen light up and he likes imitating the sounds it makes. The first set we received quite working after the first use so we exchanged it at the store for a new set and haven't had anymore issues with it. I do wish that it had a switch to silence the noises rather than just a push button because my son just likes to push the button not realizing it silences it. Then he becomes upset when it doesn't make all the fun sounds. I like how he has to work on his fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to line up the pen tip with the dots to get the pen to light up correct. Great educational item! We will definitely be checking out other sets of cards to have for him.

I received this set as part of a BzzAgent campaign. The cards were easy to understand, although some were a bit advanced for my 4 year old. The pen is neat and she loved the lights and noise. I do wish the volume button was not so easy to press on accident as she kept doing that and kept thinking she broke it. Overall, a good educational item. It would be neat to be able to buy expansion card sets for later.

You know you have a winning toy/ game when you kids wake up in the morning, get home from camp, and before bed, ask to play with their Hot Dots. I am thrilled with how much my son is learning and he is thrilled with how much he is playing. Win win in my book! We will be collecting all the sets!

At first I thought this was a flash cards box until we opened it and my son asked for batteries. It's very educational and fun to work in with your kids. It helps them also figure things out on their own because the pen will tell them if they're right or wrong. We have leap frog and I actually would prefer the Hot Dots over leap frog. Definitely would recommend to friends. May even buy as gifts. My son loves to work on his own some mornings and I've helped him practice on slowing down and figuring it out why he might have gotten something wrong. Great educational tool. Great for classrooms. Great overall!

My 3yo loves the light up pen! She gets excited to do our homeschool preschool when I tell her we'll be using hot dots. I like that it includes cards that she'll be able to practice reading along with counting when she's a bit older, so it'll give us longer use. The box is unnecessarily too large and bulky with so much empty space inside, so I plan to store the cards and pen in a much smaller reusable zipper pouch to save space. Overall, a solid product that's a fun way to spice up preschool a couple days a week.

My daughter is three years old and found the Educational Insights Hot Dots Jr. Numbers & Counting Set to be fun, for a brief time, to use the light-up pen to answer questions. However, I found the toy as a whole to be a little advanced for her, as she can only use a few of the cards, and the majority of the cards are too advanced for her to answer. Overall, I think this is a clever, interactive way to get kids to focus on learning. I think because it was too advanced for her, it didn't hold her attention for too long. She became more focused on getting the pen to light up correct and incorrect.

I was fortunate to be selected to try this product. Granted I was blessed we received everything especially where other reviews mentioned they didn't receive the pen. I hoped this could be something my now four year old and six year old could use independently, but that isn't the case. The pen doesn't read the question on the card. Don't get me wrong I do sit with my children to help and encourage learning, but sometimes as a mom I like educational tools that they can use independently so I can complete some other things. It did help with learning more numbers for my four year old.
