I got this for my grand daughter which is 7 years old. She very much enjoys this game. It is enjoyable for her but is easy since she is older, on the higher side of the age group. It has 120 robot faces so none are alike. It is a challenge and somewhat confusing at first, but is very challenging for the age group, and in my honest opinion isn't for children under 6 years old. It is a very good and fun game though for kids 6 and up to me. You match robot face colors. Overall a very good game, but not for the youngest children.
Actually, this game is very challenging for me, not my 8 yr old granddaughter! We've played over and over again and each time, she beats me hands down!! It's not difficult; you roll some balls that give you 4 features of a robots face ( color of face, smile, eyes and nose) the catch is the board consists of 120 heads of robots to find the right one each turn!!! Gotta be fast and accurate!!!
This is a great game for simple family fun! It's refreshing to play a game where the instructions are so simple and the gameplay is entertaining and educational. The Robot Face Race Game requires no batteries, and has some of simplest gameplay and set up I have seen in a long time. Set up and cleanup of the game are done in 4 motions, so it's easy to grab spur of the moment. I like that the game pieces are coated, so if they get a bit messy from little (or big) fingers, they can easily be wiped clean. The game greatly encourages color recognition and attention to detail in a fun and easy way. Although the game is intended to be played competitively, I believe that the game can be played strictly on a learning basis with no added pressure of being first to find the matching robot head. Even if chosen to play competitively, it's fun to frantically scan the board to be the first to locate the matching robot! There are so many color combinations of robots to be made that you would likely never remember where certain robots are located, thus making it great to replay again and again.
I received this game with my nephew and nieces in mind as they are younger. I remembered playing memory as a child, and figured it might be worth trying out with them since they are of the appropriate age. It took a few minutes to explain the matching concept, and help them with the rules of the game, but once they got the hang of it, they had a blast! They played the game for hours, laughing and giggling, and I was satisfied with the fact that it was helping to improve their cognitive and memory skills. Great educational and fun game to have in your collection!
With this game, Grandma and Grandpa can play with grandkids. No batteries needed! The playing board unfolds and is covered in different color faces with different color nose, eyes, mouth and face. The "holder" is shaken, the colors land on the above. If you have a playing piece the same color, you keep playing by drawing another piece. You do this until you have the face, mouth, eyes and nose the same color as that in the holder. It's fast paced and fun! Nice to be able to sit around with the grandkids instead of being glued to the t.v. or computer. Best served with popcorn~enjoy.
I go this game for my three year old son. The box states for ages 4+ but it was not a problem. My Son absolutely loves this game. The instructions are very simple to follow, no parts of this requires batteries. Its like the traditional old fashioned board game. My son was so excited every time we shook the play piece to find a robot that matched the colors indicated. Just like the instructions say there is basically no chance to repeat a robot match with over 200 different combinations. My husband even got caught up in playing this game. My sons response when he, my husband, or I got a match was to tell us good job and give a high five. For this game I would recommend it as a simple game to get you to interact with your child on a level that they understand. Its amazing watching the look on their face figuring out where their robot is and the joy of when they find it. I love that this game has no batteries. The only thing I was not a fan of was the material the board is made out of. It is basically pressed cardboard. Its is sturdy to begin with, but remember that this is a game for children. My son broke the board the first night trying to fold it back up to fit in the box. We just used some clear packing tape to fix it but as an improvement I would like for the board to be made out of more sturdy material.
I have mixed reviews about the Educational Insights Robot Face Race Game. The object of the game is when the shaker tells you what to look for, you must race to be the first one to find the correct face on the board. You can have up to four players and according to the directions the youngest player goes first, shakes the shaker and calls out what color head, eyes, mouth, and nose. Here is where I have a problem. By the time the youngest has called out what to look for, the other children already have a head start looking over the board. This got very frustrating very quickly! We tried to make it easier by having an adult do all the shaking and calling out the piece colors but you are constantly repeating what they are looking for - blue head, red eyes, green nose, purple mouth. All these things I guess are good memory builders but also a source of frustration. If you have children who are the least bit ADHD (which I do), this is not a good choice. Might be good if the child plays alone with this game just to build concentration but not as a race, as the game suggests.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My six year old enjoyed playing this game but my 4 year old had a bit of a hard time trying to find the robot with all the right colors . So I recommend it for kids that are in K-2nd grade
Just got this game for my kids, we have played it 3 times so far and it's ok. It is definitely a game you have to help the younger kids with and you have to make more interesting for the older players. The object is to spot your particular robot which can take a very long time for the little ones so they need help or they get too bored too quickly. For the older players I can see the game of facial recognition sequencing can seem a bit tedious after a couple of rounds. For this I've chosen to add a timer to our games just to help out the players of all ages. Without the timer you will be sitting for hours helping the little ones and for older players the game just ends too quickly. As far as the look of the game…many of the robots actually look more alien or monster rather than robotic. My kids call it the monster game instead of the robot game. They do love the clever way the robot changer is set up just a simple shake and try to get all of the colors to randomly fall into the slots. My little find a game in just that, trying to get certain colors to match up with whatever robot features they choose. It's a simple game that you can add your own spin on, again ours is adding a timer 60 seconds for little ones and 30 for older players just to make it more interesting to us.
Robot Face Race is a game on a board (but hardly what I would call a board game). You may have 2-4 players. On the board are many different color combinations of robot faces. You "roll" to see what color combination of eyes, nose, mouth and face you are looking for. Then the players see who can find the representative face first. It's a bit like Where's Waldo or I spy.. But hardly a board game in the traditional sense. It's for ages 4 and up- you will always win against a 4 year old.. It's just not a "luck" game like Candy Land. The most fun we had with it was just letting the kids play it by themselves. It lasted for about 3 faces and got boring very quickly as its basically the same idea every time.
