This game is perfect for small kids its not too complicated and easy to use. The object of the game is to fill your log with all five colored acorns to feed the hungry squirrels in winter. Its easy and simple to use and tons of fun for the kids. The box is really sturdy and doubles as a game board. Each child gets a log piece which they must fill with the 5 acorns, you place all the acorns in the game box and they take turns spinning and finding out what their next move should be. You can pick one acorn or two, steal one from another player, skip your turn and loose all your acorns. It's a great tactical game for kids that helps to develop their motor skills.
I received this toy and was very pleasantly surprised!! First of all, the box that the game comes in is very cute and VERY sturdy! I've purchased other games and found that the boxes can tend to be a little flimsy but not this one! I'm a pediatric occupational therapist so I played this with a couple of my pre school kids and they LOVED it! The concept is easy to grasp and understand, the games pieces are also very well made and easy to use. Fine motor coordination is such an important skill to have especially pre school children who are starting to write so I LOVED the "squirrel squeezer"!! It is a plastic squirrel fashioned into a pair of tweezers and requires the player to pick up their "acorn" and place on their game piece. What a great way to have children utilize and increase this skill and also have a BLAST doing it! I really like this game and plan to use it often!!
My family is big on games. Any kind of game is good, but ones where our 3 and 4 year old can play, are especially good. This game is excellent for children. Right off the bat, my kids were excited about the tiny acorns. The squirrel tweezers are really cool too, and are great for little hands. My son still has a hard time with them, but luckily, they aren't required. PROS: There is no money, no cards to read, nothing too complicated for toddlers. It is fun for even adults The box that the game comes in, is part of the board. It's a learning game. It teaches kids colors, and decision making. It is really easy to figure out. We didn't even need the instructions CONS: The acorns are extremely small. They will probably get lost easily. Also, would not recommend for anyone who has children that put things in their mouth. It's a fun game to play once a month, maybe. My kids got bored really fast. (May not be the case for everyone) Overall, it is great for the value. If you are big into games, and want something your kids can play together, or something you can play with your kids; I would recommend this.
I got this for my 7 year old grand daughter. She absolutely loves it. Although it's very easy for her as her age is on the top side of the curve, she has a lot of fun with it. She sets her babies up and gives them a board and plays imagination with them and the game. Overall a great choice and a very nice game!
I got this in time for our last weekend with our grandkids, ages 4 and 6. They had an absolute great time with it (I wasn't sure because we've never played games with them before)! Each player takes a turn to spin an arrow and whatever the arrow lands on dictates your move. There's a easy to follow (with matching pictures) card that shows what each part of the spinning wheel means. You use a "squirrel" grabber to get the acorns to fill your piece of wood which give the kids good hand/eye coordination. All in all this is a fun, easy game for the whole family.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is such a fun game! My two year old (28 months) absolutely loves it and wants to play it over and over... and over again. But my husband and I don't mind! She still can't quite grip the squirrel the right way to pick up the acorns so we use our hands, but she'll get it soon enough!
My granddaughter is 2 and she was able to understand the directions. It was fun to play and I like the learning aspect.
I loved this game. I used it in a classroom setting and it was fun and fast paced. The kids were able to play with limited adult supervision. The game focuses on skills like counting, matching and fine motor. You have to spin the spinner and then match the color the spinner lands on to the same colored acorns. In order to pick the acorns up you have to use the large squirrel tweezers which all the kids loved!! It was a fun game and kept every ones attention and it was simple enough for them to play with limited adult support.
My kids played with this game and I found it outstanding. This game has 5 different colors to the holes where the nuts go and the kids have to spin the wheel to get the squirrel nuts and match them with the holes they go with. My four year old is learning his colors and while he played this I would ask him what the color was that he had to get. He was able to match the color nut to the hole it belonged to and actually won 2 of the games. This game was not only fun, but it was educational as well for my 4 year old son. I am going to let his K4 teacher know about this game as well to see if it would be appropriate to use in her classroom to teach the kids their colors (5 of the colors at least). Loved watching them play this fun/educational game. Great thing is he doesn't really know he is learning, he just has fun while he is learning which is always a good thing. I am definitely going to recommend this product to my family members with small children not yet in school or learning their colors because this game is super helpful with it.
This is a great game for the entire family to spend quality time together. The instructions are simple for a toddler to follow – each person has a log with five color-coded holes. Spin the wheel, perform the action from the wheel – either get a specific acorn color, wild card for either one acorn or two acorns, steal an acorn from another player, or the bad wind blew all your acorns away. The objective is to fill up all five acorns, meaning you got an acorn of each of the five colors. There is very little strategy involved, and it is mostly just luck as to who wins the game. The box for the game is the pretend tree for the acorns. There is a pair of cute tweezers in the shape of a squirrel, and we pretend the squirrel is grabbing the acorns. This squirrel, for me, is the highlight of the game. We even pretend it is alive and asks the child which acorn to pick. It reinforces color recognition. It is a social game. My child has no interest spinning the wheel and getting the acorn by herself, but oftentimes, she would bring the game to me and ask me to play with her. I like having one more activity to do with her.
