I love instant soups because I'm pretty lazy and don't like preparing soups. There I said it! Therefore I'm happy with Edward & Sons miso soup. It takes only a few seconds to prepare and it's pretty delicious for an instant soup.
The soup packets are so convenient! Great for travel or a quick meal. I prefer the traditional variety from this brand the best but all of the flavors are great, especially when you add veggies and dumplings or ramen to make it more filling. Sometimes I add ginger, garlic, red pepper flakes, and green onion. For those considering sodium intake, keep in mind that 1/2 a packet (about a tablespoon) is a serving.
Take note, in a box, it comes in 4 packs, and each pack is equivalent to 2 servings. I would've preferred to have it in 8 packs (individual servings), but it's not an issue. You can just pour half of the content into a bowl or mug, and save the other half for later. The way I do it, is put enough water at first, and just add more water until it suits my taste. All you need to do is pour hot water into it, wait for few minutes, and it's done. It taste really delicious, almost similar to how a miso soup would taste in Japan. It also has kelp too...
Easy to prepare soup to complement a meal. I like that it is not too salty which is usually the case for instant food.
It has a more interesting taste than "Golden Vegetable" soup thanks to the wakame seaweed in it. But I prefer the actual Wakame leaves, as they are present in the Japanese Restaurant style soup by E&S. I will use it up, and the price value is good, but won't repurchase it. I like the Japanese Restaurant style soup more. It is more expensive but worth the price
These taste weird. Good quality but tastes really different that usual miso. Packaging is convenient for use. It helps with my diet journey. I don't recommend it. Flavor is weird and leaves weird aftertaste. Will not be buying again for sure I received it in good condition
This is solidly mediocre miso soup. I'm glad I didn't pay that much for it. It doesn't taste bad, but it's nowhere nearly as good as the miso soup you'd get at a Japanese restaurant.
The taste is not expected or quite unusual I'd say, and forgot to look at the instructions just noticed this is 1 pack to serve for 2, the water control needs to be more mindful but even with that, the taste of Miso is just not Japanese taste, I won't buy again.
Honestly I prefer another option with tofu, this one is very salty to my taste. But my son likes this one also, so there is no accountant for taste. Anyway it is rather cheap, so you can use it as a basis and add some other ingredients.
This soup tastes like a cross beef bullion and dirty socks. Not close to anything miso I've ever had, I cannot recommend this one after having the rich flavor and quality of Marukame brand miso soup. I can't say I like much about it because it tastes bad to me.
