Although I haven't used this lens much since purchase except for acceptance testing, based on results of raptor photography under low-light conditions (in the woods) I have to wonder from why anyone would want to spend more for a lens, unless they needed a full frame sensor and a dust-proof L-series lens. In general, the quality available in the Canon APS-C (EF-S) lineup so far in my experience exceeds what I used professionally just 10 years ago before retirement, at less cost and lighter weight, assuming that you find an APS-C system useful. I found it a perfect complement in my travel backpack for my Rebel SL2/EOS 200D and the Adorama 2-lens Travel Kit. The image stabilization function (IS) and light weight, plus the 60 percent focal length factor over the 135 film format (35 mm) makes it possible take distant handheld evening shots without either a tripod or having to lay out $2K for faster, bigger glass. I'm rough on stuff, so I hope it holds together and I don't have to eat my words.
Provides very sharp images even at the 250 focal range. I use the lens primarily for plane spotting and it has done a wonderful job. It?s quick, precise, and the STM motor is very nice to have.
Great And nice!!
It is a good, fast focus lens with a definite sweet spot, but makes you work a bit harder for that clarity indoors or at max range. The included software bundle was a year old (I received the newest software when I purchased my camera in Dec 2020 from a competitor.) The Canon free software is better/more useful than the bundle for editing.
