Great except for the bump release

abun June 19, 2026

Bought this a couple months ago and just used it a couple weeks ago. I've never used a string trimmer before so I read the instructions and watched a couple instructional videos on YouTube. The handles made it easy to maneuver and it made short work of the high grass at the fence line. It seemed to worked as designed except for the bump string release. I read and reread the instructions a watched the bump release in the YouTube videos and it still wouldn't work. I released the string manually per the instructions. Not sure if it is faulty but I am using it as directed and it still wouldn't work. Hopefully it will start working at some point.

Power+ 15" String Trimmer

katomi June 2, 2026

It was a little iffy in the beginning. It took a little bit to figure out which way to turn it when edging the grass. Other than that it's been a little champ. I had some higher weeds - which that too can be a little problamatic. When I wen't out to the front yard it worked like a champ. I'm happy!

EGO String Trimmer

EvaS55 May 5, 2026

It works great! The string jammed and I had to open it; I found out how hard is to open it and put it back on. It is too big for my hand to squeeze the two sides to open and I used a tool to squeeze one side at a time. My hands hurt trying to open it. That's a drawback.

Great Trimmer

OwlCher June 2, 2026

I purchased this in replacement of my Worx dual battery trimmer. My Worx was still functional and battery life was decent but I needed something with a bit more cutting and power flexibility. The adjustable speed and the safety trigger lever is a nice addition to this tool to keep from accidentally turning on by laying on the ground or the grand kiddos close to my tools. The EGO trimmer is heavier so I had to purchase a shoulder strap and the “handle bar” add on to help me keep up right when trimming. The only reason of 4 instead of the 5 is the height of the cutting head to the surface. I usually have about 1” cut from my Worx but my EGO is more like 1.5” (my estimation only). So after I trim and then come with the mower you can see the difference in height of the grass. It's not a big concern since all I have to do is angle the weed water to get the proper height. Overall this is a great tool and purchased it because I am pleased with my blower, also an EGO product. I am also looking at other products like the edger and the 3 gallon car vacuum.

Works great, surprised by small battery

Rod55 May 24, 2026

Works great and gets the job done effortlessly, have to say that I'm pretty impressed with the Ego products. I have leaf blower, whipper snipper and push lawn mower. I was disappointed with the size of the battery that came with the whipper snipper but obviously I'll live with it.

You won't regret this purchase!

Hoosier78 June 21, 2026

My original electric trimmer lasted 12 years and had a cord -- not sure if cordless existed back then. I needed to make a quick decision and the consensus amongst my neighbors was to purchase an Ego. I test drove my neighbors Ego trimmer and found it easy to operate, light weight, easy to maneuver in tights spaces and they made reloading the cord a breeze. The battery provides ample power and the charge last for several cuts. That experience sealed the deal and I bought my trimmer. No regrets.

Good tool.

Anonymous May 24, 2026

BEST part is that it started up FIRST TIME ( not like my gas powered Echo, which is why I went electric). Plenty of power to mow down the toughest weeds. I used my 5.0 battery and it was still going strong when I became worn out and had to quit. Everything worked great.

Battery beats 2-Stroke

kiwimagic May 2, 2026

I have a small farm (15 acres) and have a combination of heavy duty and lightweight weed eating. The battery unit has no difficulty with the heavy duty work and is very convenient for lightweight weed eating. 4A battery is sufficient for most of my needs and for long sessions I simply have a second 4A battery in case of need. It is great to have no 2-stroke sound. The unit is very convenient, feeds the line very well and is easy to load. High recommended. This is a quality unit that is well designed.

Pretty darn good

Robert 67 June 1, 2026

I love the fact that your company makes the power pack batteries work in all of the different tools. The leaf blower is wonderful, I use it on the turbo boost all the time and it is equal to my gas blower that I used to have. And the Weedwhacker/trimmer is wonderful because it extends and fits me because I am a tall person I do not have to stoop over. Thanks for a great product Robert.

Very nice trimmer!

Anonymous June 10, 2026

This is my second EGO string trimmer. After the first one's "trigger" mechanism failed, the tool was replaced under warranty with the one I own now, which is the subject of this review. This unit has features that my old one did not. So far, I have not used it a lot, but I have been well impressed by it. One possible concern is at low speeds, the power head (if that's the correct term) sometimes makes a bit of a screeching sound. I hope it's nothing serious, and that aside, the trimmer operates flawlessly. I have not yet needed to reload the trimmer, but I'm hoping it is as easy as claimed. I'll add that after buying the first string trimmer, I later bought an EGO walk-behind lawn mower, and more recently, an EGO blower. The mower is well balanced and has good cutting power. Quality seems to be very good on each of the EGO tools I own.
