I Love my Gnarl Jr. He feels like he might have a bit more power than my 18" Ego chainsaw, Gnarl Sr. Hopefully Senior is able to be repaired as he is currently in the shop. I have always been very afraid to operate chainsaws and challenged myself to turn my fear into respect. Gnarl Sr. was just the saw I needed to accomplish this. I no longer need to seek assistance for the smaller to mid-size tasks around my property that demands a chainsaw.
High winds had uprooted a 30ft pine tree on my property and, of course, I needed a durable tool for cutting and clean up. So, after extensive research on the internet for battery or gas powered chain saws in the 14 to 16 inch range, I decided to purchase the EGO POWER+ 16" Chain Saw (40cc) with battery and charger (kit) I must say, this had to be one of the best purchases I've made for yard maintenance. Built solid, low noise, easy maintenance. Gets the job done. Extended run time power with battery options
this is my third chainsaw over 40 years or so . The gas one was loud, the plug in electric was a pain to use and under powered. This fit the bill. I probably should have purchased the 14 inch instead of the 16 inch because I rarely use a chainsaw. The log I was cutting was almost too big for the 16 inch. (Each quarter of the oak log required cutting from each side). The saw had no issues. Still, remember to use safety glasses and ear protection.
Very pleased with my new purchase. At 65 1/2 a battery powered chainsaw is much more user friendly than the traditional models. Seems to have plenty of power and with a lower weight I can move it around more easily and does not seem to cause any pain or numbness in my hands or wrists.
Bought this this for use on our farm and I don't think our gas saws will get used much anymore. Used it right away to take care of a few fallen trees from storm damage and thought i'd for sure need to charge the battery midway through but after limbing all the trees and cutting the trunks into firewood the battery was at 50% - couldn't believe it. Also love the ability to just drop the saw and adjust the logs without it loudly idling like gas saws.
Bought this instead of gas to be able to use the battery for my ego sno blower. So far it has not dissapoint being able to have longer run time. The only thing is the blade got dull quite often because of the type of wood being cut, other than that, its a strong electric chainsaw. I got the 16".
After two weeks I'm very impressed. No struggling with starting. Instant power. One big surprise I am pleased with. When you put the chainsaw down to move wood pieces., it stops. No worries about it vibrating one moving. Since it's off, no noise to yell over to a co-worker. Plenty of power.
I was impressed with the saws capabilities. I had a 20 year old pear tree in my back yard fall over due to storm damage and bought the saw to cut up the tree. I made short work of cutting the tree into pieces and only used up about 40% of the battery. Well worth the money!!
I just purchased this last week and used it this past weekend and I have to say that I'm very impressed with this chainsaw. I was able to take down a large tree with the majority of it being done on one battery. I already have an Ego string trimmer so I had a 2nd battery ready to go.
I had to take down 15 scrub trees in our backyard. They averaged 25 to 30'. The Ego saw was perfect for the job. Great cutting, low noise and the perfect mix of power and weight. I saved thousands on the project versus the tree professional quote. Thank you, Ego!
