Really powerful and full of handy features. A few areas of improvement though. The weight is mainly concentrated in front of the wheels so they tend to slip sometimes when the snow is a bit harder and the second is if there could be a sharper edge at the bottom of the plow to help scrape and clean the snow down to the asphalt.
Used it three over the past week with light to moderate snowfall in 25-35 degree range. We had a wide range of lake effect this past week. I can already tell that it will clean better and throw farther than my gas blowers have in the past 10 years, regardless of how light, heavy, wet, or fluffy it is. Got used to the hesitant spool up fairly quickly.
I had been on the fence for so long in making the decision to purchase an adequately powered snow blower, with a battery powered unit, only recently ,being on my radar. I ultimately made the decision to purchase the 28 inch model and after dealing with a couple of significant snowfalls, I am reporting it has exceeded my expectations. I use the unit to clear the snow around the perimeter of the house. The powerful 56v, 12 amp batteries unsure I have enough power and duration to complete the task with plenty of charge remaining. The motorized chute is very convenient.
I am really happy with this machine. It cleared the plow buildup at the end of my driveway without any struggle. The self propel feature made the job easy and the heated handles felt like a luxury. I only used a single pip of battery for the whole job and that impressed me. Powerful smooth and efficient. I am thrilled with it so far.
I have owned this Ego 28" Snowblower with the 2 included 12 amp hour batteries for 2 months now and I've got 5 uses on it so far. Most of the storms have been smaller storms of about 3-6" heavier wet snow with the last storm 12" of lighter fluffy snow. One thing that you will not have to worry about is power! My previous snowblowers have been 8 and 9 hp briggs blowers and they don't compare to the battery power of this snowblower. This is a beast as far as power for throwing snow and also traveling forward through the snow. I strangely have had no need reason to increase the auger speed from the lowest setting as it tosses snow further than any snowblower I've owned with that lowest setting. I do have a fairly large driveway that is pretty wide (5 parked cars wide), (4 cars long if parked end to end) and an entrance to it from the road of 20 feet by 10 feet. I also blow a 60' path to my shed out back almost 5 ft wide. The only thing I'm working on is trying to use it in a way to conserve the battery. I've learned to not to keep the auger engaged while backing up or traveling to a different spot to save some of the battery. I still do not know how much the hand warmers or lights would rob battery life to get some extended blower time. For all the snow storms so far 1 foot or less that I've experienced, it makes it just about to the end of what I need without charging. Most time the batteries are only maybe 50% depleted by the end of the journey. The 12" snow storm used them up till dead but, I did finish the driveway. This blower can throw snow over cars with ease which helps in my situation at times. The tires are truly amazing as they even seem to grip well even in ice! This thing grips the ground well and even some ice with these wide aggressive tread tires! The joystick control of the shoot is quick and absolutely effortless. I can say this after a few months and 5 uses, I'm never going back to gas snowblower. Being 63 now, I used to be pretty well tuckered out after the fight with the old blower but, now it's truly effortless. I'm actually so impressed I'm considering replacing my John Deere riding mower in the spring. Those batteries will be compatible between the mower and snowblower so once I get the mower and more batteries included with that, my battery use conservation will not be of concern. The batteries are very expensive but, cheap batteries are always terrible in anything that uses batteries. In the end, it was a great decision although not cheap. It was totally worth the investment so far!
It is the 28” blower, worked well on two driveways, then 1/2 way through third driveway red light on battery came on. Two battery charger took two hours to recharge. Low vibration and had no problems moving 8” of snow. My only negative comment is the variation between speed settings is not gradual.
This thing is a beast. I have a steep driveway and the self propelled feature worked great. Cut through 12 inches of snow with no problem and threw it 40 to 50 feet. I was able to do my driveway and a neighbor's drivel on a single charge. I am the envy of the neighborhood; at least on snowy days.
I've got to say I was septic at the beginning to use a electric snow blower. But boy was I wrong this machine is like a tank it can take any kind of snow and throw it wherever you want. The only thing I would maybe suggest to Ego is to have a shear pin on the actual propeller of the blower. I just hope I don't hit anything too hard. With the Impaler because the motor will get all the shock and might break the motor. Other than that this machine is a beast.
It worked great for a few weeks but then the tire on the right started slipping and clicking. It's already in the repair shop after owning it for only 6 weeks. I bought a battery machine so I'd have less maintenence. 😞
It sucks that you can't stop the auger from running without releasing the drive handle first. So when coming to the ends of the driveway you cannot turn the blower in motion while releasing the auger so snow doesn't shoot all over the road or into your garage. You have to come to a full stop, release the auger than press the drive handle again, you have no rhythm whatsoever.
