Excellent trimmer

tony90 May 30, 2026

I have had this about two weeks and am stunned by how powerful it is. This last two days I used it to mow a field that is too wet for a tractor or mower. I had to swap out batteries, but since I have a few, that was no big deal. I love the self loading feature for the trim line.

Great product

David from Big Bear Ca June 4, 2026

I don't usually post reviews but gotta give credit where credit is due. This is the best weed eater I have ever used. The self winding option is simple and works great. After starting a two acre project and much beer and drama I threw the old gas powered weed eater in the dirt and bought this. Put it to the test and it worked great. It did burn through the batteries but had some extra from previous purchases. Save yourself some drama and buy one of these you won't regret it.

Excellent in all respects!

Dadd February 10, 2020

What a great trimmer! I am impressed with the power and the quiet operation. Much better than noisy gas trimmers (and a lot less maintenance). The unit is strong and much better built than other cheaply made string trimmers. What sets this unit apart is the 'string' that is used. The 'line' is extremely thick and strong and lasts FAR more than regular fishing line grade trimmers. I was able to level brush that was up to the diameter of a pencil with no hesitation on the unit's part. I was able to level a complete 1 acre on one charge. Replacing the line is so easy it's ridiculous. Just put in a length of line, push a button and all the wrapping and loading is done. The bump-and-go to advance the line is an added benefit. Extremely well balanced, the unit prevents arm fatigue (I do not use a strap) and is user intuitive. All-in-all a wonderful trimmer and as expected from an EGO product! Love mine!

Won't Let You Down

Mehou August 28, 2020

I'm a 59 year old female. I watched several YouTube videos to figure out which trimmer to purchase and ended up with this one. I initially didn't want a battery trimmer but an electric instead. The videos convinced me otherwise and I'm so glad they did. I have a large rural yard with serious thistles, mustard and high grasses and this trimmer cuts through them like butter. The battery only lasts a little over a half hour so far but that's because I have been cutting through so much thick stuff. I'm pretty tired by the time the battery dies anyway so I can use the break to rake up the big stuff. I bought the Ego hedge trimmer also, so I have 2 batteries for when I have more endurance to go longer. I highly recommend this trimmer for heavy lifting when it comes to weeds. Also i love the automatic string reload function. I no longer dread loading the string. Battery charges pretty fast too.

Better than......

3rd Ego purchase July 14, 2026

Still getting used to my new 15" Ego string trimmer. It's certainly an upgrade from my older, gas powered trimmer. Much lighter, much easier to reload the string and the battery charge is great (I have 3 Ego tools using the same battery). But not as easy to "trim" vertically as my previous tools. Maybe I just need to use it more. The angle of the trimmer head makes it a bit awkward to cut a clean line vertically.

Easy string loading

Junie June 6, 2026

Ease of loading new string is great! My biggest complaint about my previous string trimmer was the hassle of loading new string. The power load feature is awesome.

Good tool but...

Alexander K 00 July 18, 2020

Excellent tool. Works great and is exactly as I expected it. However there is an improvement to make. The tools comes in folded in two and you have to unfold it and fix the handle with a long socket head screw. It took me about 30 mins to try to pass the screw through all the threaded hole because they were badly drilled and not aligned at all.

Solid string trimmer with a fatal flaw

Gary in Utah November 3, 2025

Overall, the string trimmer works well. Easy to use, easy to charge. I really appreciated the PowerLoad feature while it worked. Unfortunately, it broke after about 18 months of use. There's a part that has failed and cannot be replace without replacing the entire head. Poor design or fatal flaw?

Misled, but still nice.

Tim_J March 21, 2026

Carbon fiber is nice, The disappointing part is when I had bought it, 2021, the pictures were not as clear as they are now, and the picture online and on the box showed the trimmer in two pieces, leading me to believe the drive was a shaft drive that allowed for other attachments. Well, the box and images were the way they were for smaller retail storage maybe. The shaft needed to be bolted together and the drive is just at the head with a coated wire harness running the length of the shaft. Still a good trimmer, the auto load is where its at.

Device not good for first-time string trimmer user

Guam57 June 4, 2026

This is the first string trimmer I have owned. EGO did not appear to have an online training session for people like me. That was a disappointment. I watched YouTube videos to get the hang of it. My first try was a little rough. I couldn't get the string to extend - dropped the head on the ground several times but got no results
