I bought this mower about a month ago and am very unhappy with the ergonomics of having to hold the start lever with my hand and then use my thumbs for the self propulsion. Causes a lot pain in my hands when mowing and for days after. The mower is also very difficult to turn.
The mower didn't have the safety flap as indicated on page 19 of the user's manual. Only had two of the four blades, and there was other missing pieces. I attempted to contact EGO and like their mower, it was crappy No one bothered to call me back. For the cost of the machine, I expected more from EGO ...
The mower is quiet and the battery charging is easy and efficient. I'm disappointed with the discharge chute and the discharging of the grass. The chute doesn't tightly secure to the mower and the grass doesn't propel out of the mower. It just seems to clump and fall out a short distance away.
During the fourth time that I mowed my grass the right rear wheel started locking up periodically so the mower was no longer self-propelled. Based on other reviews that I've now read this seems to have been a common problem for several years now. I took the mower to a registered EGO repair shop where "they are waiting for parts." It's ridiculous that the mower needed repairs after only 4 uses. My lawn is less than 1/3 acre!
I like that the handle is adjustable height. I'm tall and I appreciate the high handle. I like the way this mower can easily convert into 3 different types, bag, mulch or side chute.
Cut and self propelled as good as my previous gas powered mower. Used for 50 minutes and finished the lawn with two battery bars left. Recharged battery fully in less than 1 hour. The only thing I would recommend changing is the location where the auxiliary phone pouch attaches to the handlebars. The pouch gets in the way of my legs when it is attached under the control bars.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased my mower one week ago. So far, I've found it easy to operate and store after use. It cuts well. The self mulching feature works well on shorter grass in my front lawn while I use the bag attachment for longer grass.
I bought this mower about 3 weeks ago after reviewing some others and I'm very happy with it so far. I've used it 3 times and it has plenty power to mow my acre yard that has some slope on about half of it. The duel blades mulch the grass well and my lawn looks amazing when done. Very efficient with precise cutting. As far as the ergonomics go, we'll I'm short and old but still find I can operate this mower easily.
This mower cuts through grass like butter. I was replacing a 7.5HP Craftsman 700 series B&S 22" gas mower. The old gas mower would get bogged down on some areas of my lawn. But, not this mower the EGO 800 has not stalled or bogged down once. Mowing with the EGO 800 is the most enjoyable mowing experience I have had in all my decades of mowing :) I think getting a model with the Select Cut dual blades is important to get good results, and I would say the 7.5Ah battery is good for about half an acre (depending on the type of grass you have). The battery recharge time is around an hour, so fast if additional law needs to be cut. For me the 800 series has plenty of power to cut through my grass. I have not been using the self propel feature since the mower is so light that manually pushing and maneuvering it is effortless, this also helps conserve the battery to cover a little more area on one charge. I also find that I need to move the mower back and forward to maneuver around some of the garden beds, so not having the self propel engaged is just easier. (BTW, the old gas mower was a PITA to maneuver around the garden beds.) This mower is great, no oil changes or gas, just charge the battery and go. Also the noise level is so low compared with my old gas mower. I don't think I will ever be going back to a gas power mower.
Our previous Ego mower died after 9 years of weekly use. Treated myself (I am 76) to self propelled and just love it so far. Getting used to it. Easy to begin using, instruction pretty easy EXCEPT did not indicate to remove cap from battery connection. Cap was in black with instruction but was not included in the instructions manual. Once we discovered this, we were set to go!
