Ehucon Dysphagia Regulating Drinking Cup, Spill-Proof 5cc/10cc/15cc Sip Control, Purple ,1 Piece

My father had a stroke over a year ago. It took almost 6 months to get off of the feeding tube. There is a slight hole from his esophagus going into his lung to this day so drinking water or anything that's not thick causes him to aspirate. For a long time we had him on cough meds cause he would choke every time he took a drink. Then a new doctor explained that he needs to cough cause the liquid is going into his lungs and if he does not cough it out he will have fluid in the lungs and everything else that goes with it. We tried thick powder but he did not like it, we tried heavier drinks like juice and again he choked. Sippy cups helped for awhile but then he was no longer able to suck the liquid up to the straw. This went on for months. Last month I started to look into other forms of cups and I found this one. We can control exactly how much liquid he receives per drink he takes. It's amazing. He is rarely choking and he is drinking more then he ever did with nothing getting into his lungs. We started with the small one 5cc insert which was good during the day but at meal times he needed the 10cc insert. They are very easy to change out so not a problem. The only thing I wished would be different is the optional silicone spout that you can put over the lid so that he never has to put his neck back to drink or turn the cup sideways where it would drip from other kinds. This one does not leak when on its side but the attachment is too hard for him to suck the liquid up. He is very happy using it without it. I'm ordering a few more today so he has options.

This cup is amazing and works. I'm a caregiver for dementia patients. This is a must have item.

This dysphagia drinking cup isn't worth a dime. There is NO control on the amount of liquids that can be taken in. I tried both the 5cc and 10cc attachment and you can drink all the fluids at once. And it's suppose to be spill proof. That's a joke too. Don't waste your money on this product.
