The sides of this thing should hold your phone in place, sometimes it will open and sometimes mostly it just clicks and only 1side opens. Ive used it maybe 10 times and now my phone just drops out of the holder hitting me while driving. Waste of money. Not designed to hold phones properly. The vent clip that it came with wouldn't even hold the charger in place in the vent i had to but a different vent piece to even get it to stay put in the vent. With the new piece (from amazon) it holds great in the vent but it doesn't hold on to the phone well at all.
