Quality casting
I would say that this corbel is about as strong (or weak) as if it were hand carved out of wood. In-other words it is decorative and as strong as a soft wood, but don't use it as a shelf bracket to hold more than a few pounds of weight. It has advantages over wood as it won't get wood rot or a fungus. Termites and insects will leave it alone. The casting is clean and highly detailed. I am very pleased with this product. Only years will tell, but I would expect it to hold up better than wood to the elements and sunlight. My only negative was the flat top was slightly rounded and I had to square it flat with my disk/belt sander.

Perfect!
My husband and I built a headboard from old doors. We wanted to cap it with a shelf held up by old corbels but we couldn't find any. These reproductions fit the bill perfectly. The quality is excellent and the service was too!
