Excellent, easy to use product

retiredactively July 5, 2014

I was pleased to have this high quality deadbolt lock at such a reasonable price. I received it about 3 days earlier than was projected. It is programmable with up to 17 4-digit combinations, so it can be personalized for that many individual users if one wants to. Unfortunately, installing it was not a easy as I had hoped. The hole this lock needs was larger than the one used by my previous deadbolt lock. I needed to dismount the heavy wooden door, carry it to my shop (with assistance), place it on my drill press bed and use a 2 1/8" Forstner bit to get a precision mounting hole. If you don't want to find yourself in the same predicament, make sure your pre-drilled mounting hole is 2 1/8" in diameter. This is particularly important for steel and fiberglass doors. Also, the lock body was just a bit too wide for the trim on my door, so I had to use silicone to seal the gap where the lock overlapped the open trim on the door. All that said, this is a solid deadbolt that is easy to program and easy to install with the included instructions and a Philips head screwdriver. One additional thing to note is that the deadbolt needs to be turned to engage or disengage it once the code is entered. It will not lock and unlock on its own as will some mechanized deadbolts. For me, that is a plus.

Great lock for the money

FrankM11 May 18, 2014

I just received and installed this lock today. I purchased it for my side garage door so I would not have to open the door with a key. I researched quite a few different brands, and read all the reviews before I decided on this brand and model. It has a lever on the outside which spins freely until you enter a four digit code. Once you enter the code, the lock bolt is moved manually by turning the lever. To lock the door from the outside, you just have to press the "schlage" button and manual turn the lock. It also works with a key. You can enter many different four digit codes. It works great and was easy to install (make sure to read the directions first). Runs on a 9 volt battery. And the best part is that it is a "Schlage". They have been making locks for a long, long time. I believe this is the best lock for the money if you want keypad access, and the satin nickel finish looks great.

This lock is very easy to install and is a terrific lock! We wanted a lock that also had a key back up and this fits our need perfectly! I highly recommend it to anyone.

Great product, easy to install

kanus October 22, 2014

Walmart's price for this item was better than other retailers. Installation was easy once I had enlarged the hole from 1-1/2" to 2-1/8". That was the difficult part. It took me over an hour to do this. After that, it took me about 10 minutes to install.

Very convenient

Naje52 April 30, 2014

I love this lock on my front door because it makes it so much easier to get in and out without relying on keys. A lot of times I have my hands full and I'm happy to not be shuffling through keys at my doorstep anymore.

Great deadbolt

miguelN July 8, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this keypad deadbolt. I had family visiting and I wasn't there to open the house. I just told them the code and they had access. Also, there's no need for a key anymore to get into the house.

Awesome locks

Okiblonde June 7, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 2 of these locks, both work great and I feel secure when the bolt is engaged. Highly recommend. The ergonomics and finish work well with my design and the durability is outstanding, I live on the coast and they hold up great.

Works well!

Utah May 18, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to install. Clear instructions. Love the way keypad buttons light up with a gentle blue color. Works as expected on installation. Only concern is the outside key knob feels a bit wobbly. Hope it holds up over time.

Cheaper feeling than expected

Dürnöb June 7, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Relatively easy to install after expanding the pre-drilled hole. The lock feels like some parts were manufactured with really loose tolerances. It just seems like there's a lot of slack when locking/unlocking. Im not really worried about it failing, it just also doesnt inspire confidence. Im just used to higher quality parts from Schlage. Otherwise, it looks relatively nice and it locks the door like its supposed to.
