I had a beam in car port with 2" of deflection. The structural engineer recommended reinforcement with steel "C" channel, but said he doubted I could get rid of the deflection. I purchased (3) 86" screw jacks and put them in place and jacked up the beam about a 1/16 of an inch a couple of times a week. After a few months, all the deflection was eliminated and we reinforced the beam with steel as suggested. The screw jacks were perfect for the application and reasonably priced.
I am building a small (14' wide x 9' deep ) kitchen addition to my hunting camp, which is off the grid. Three of these lifts are supporting the carrying beam, and allow me to correct for any future settling or frost action. I was able to tackle a two person job by myself with ease.
I am so happy to have the Ellis stl shoring jacks installed under my clients fireplace structure. The previous owner of the property stupidly had the basement dug out about 6’ for an addition, undermining all of the foundations. The house has been unsafe and uninhabited for many years. Ellis jacks are a critical element of our structural restoration of this beautiful bayside house, soon to be a home again. I’m not worried about collapsing anymore. Thanks for your quality product and for supplying our project in such a timely manner.
Used this jack to raise my sunroom which was settling due to a couple of incorrectly installed columns. I attached it to a 6 x 6 and easily took the load off the existing columns which I repaired using another jack post with the 6 x 6 box end. Amazing the ease with which the jack can lift such a load!
This is the first time using Ellis jacks and I don't plan on buying from another company. Service has been great. Product has been easy to work with and made very well. I will use this product for years to come. Chris jones with Chris jones construction inc
I found these while searching for a stronger, safer, more versatile post to square up our sagging 1850’s barn at the family farm. Work great! Also going to use them to hold up my garage trusses while replacing the rotted sill plates. I added the 4x4 top for my garage and the flat plate for the barn. Excellent products!
I had a brick pier in my basement/crawlspace that was beginning to fail at the footer due to erosion. I ordered the STL-62 jack (which arrived in 4 days) to shore a distance of 84 inches from the ground to my floor joist. Installation took approximately one hour including digging out a level spot for a new concrete footer. I was able to capture the failing load with the STL-62 by simply tightening the screw mechanism until the top plate made sufficient contact with the floor joist. I am a firefighter and a member of Georgia's GSAR Team (a technical rescue team that operates in conjunction with GEMA and FEMA). I have used Ellis Manufacturing's products in the past during our structural collapse certification training and can say without a doubt that they are one of the best companies in the business. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a no nonsense high quality product to meet their structural support needs.
I have installed 9 lifting shores(5 heavy duty and four light duty)on the pier/beam foundation on my 1949 mountain cabin. I was given an estimate of over $50,000 to replace the foundation. My repair/replace project in total is under $2,000 and the foundation is far stronger than the original foundation. My consultation with the Ellis experts helped guide me through the process. Should there be any additional settling - adjusting the jacks is easy. I highly recommend Ellis products.
This is very stout, I have a two-story home that is also off of the ground about 4 foot and I had to show up a section of flooring in my kitchen these jacks work perfect. And if they consider this light duty I’d hate to see what they call heavy duty because these things are stout
This was exactly what I was looking for. We live in a log house that was built in the 1890's and were having issues with settling in one corner.. When the house was built it was on a rock foundation. Your shoring jacks were the solution we needed. Thank you for your prompt service. Jim Kendall
