Good adhesion, built-in brush too big.

Anonymous October 8, 2025

Pretty much typical of all contact cements that I've used. While the cap has an attached brush, I often find that has too much adhesive stuck on it, especially for a small job, so I have disposable brushes for small applications. Sticks well when properly applied: apply to both sides, wait until dried but still tacky, and press sides together. I had belts to shorten after losing lots of weight, but they had 2 sides sewn together which meant the trimmed end no longer had stitching. The belt would flay apart at the end making it more difficult to thread though the belt loops on pants, but a single application of this glue keeps the halves together to look neat and make easy threading through belt loops. Only problem with buying in a bottle or can is air gets trapped inside eventually congealing (setting) the glue making it unusable after a couple month. Once opened, you need to keep using it up; else, you'll discard a lot of it. For large jobs, the bottle or can is good as is the large brush attached to the cap. For small jobs, I get contact cement in small squeeze tubes. After use, squeeze until the cement is at the tip, and put on the cap to keep out the air. There are stronger adhesives, but many get hard when set and upon further curing. I use contact cement where the mend has to remain flexible.

RUBBER CEMENT Still a Great Product!

Linda May 3, 2026

Ever since I discovered rubber cement as a child, I have found it to be the most useful, easy to use and to clean up type of adhesive. Of course it is not strong enough for everything, but I use it for a lot more than just paper and cardboard. My most recent project was when the duct tape I used to hold a plastic box together didn't hold, I applied rubber cement to the duct tape and - voila! - it held tight! I had to sign when I bought it - to prove that I'm over 18 (apparently, some people are sniffing this stuff). But it is an excellent adhesive, especially when you apply it to both surfaces, let it dry until sticky, and then put it together. And the best part is that, to remove any excess glue, you simply rub it off with your finger. It forms a little dry ball and doesn't mess up your hands. Rubber Cement is still a great product!

quick and efficient

Tammie April 10, 2026

Rubber cement is a fast drying glue. When you accidentally spill some, all you have to do is wait until it dries and then rub it off. It's the glue of choice for teachers because it works so quickly and doesn't leave any humps in whatever you've put it on. I just don't think it should be that expensive.

What can you say about Rubber Cement?

Anonymous July 2, 2014

It's rubbery, it's a glue (that's the cement part). It's been around forever. It still works the same as it always did. I use it for two main purposes. One is to seal the flaps of handmade envelopes and moving masks around for multi-media projects, because you can still reposition the pieces if they end up a little wonky or you change your mind about where you want them. The second use is as a resist in various arts and crafts. For instance, say I want to protect some text from other colors I'm painting onto a card. If I cover the text with Rubber Cement, then I can paint over the text (after the Rubber Cement has dried a bit), and then rub off the Rubber Cement after the paint has dried. The price for this size bottle is excellent!

Miniatures love Elmers Rubber Cement!

Flo October 19, 2023

I love using Elmers Rubber Cement for my projects. I create miniature scenes and I use Elmers to place my “carpets” and “wallpaper” inside my clear boxes. I also use it to place heavier pieces like mirrors and framed art. My only concern is with it drying too quickly as I am not as fast placing my miniature pieces in the “scenes” I create. Also it is paramount that you keep the lid screwed on securely to prevent the product from drying out.

Old fashion rubber cement!

Art July 19, 2025

I couldn't find this old fashioned rubber cement anywhere else at a reasonable price. With my Walmart plus membership, Walmart delivered it for free. I used it to reattach a rubber strip to the frame below my Bosch dishwasher door. A very stupid design by Bosch. A replacement rubber strip, if you can get it, is $20. This seems to be a good way to reattach it.

Love it

Jeanie June 1, 2026

Works great for bulletin boards and other paper crafts. Doesn’t warp the paper as much as regular glue. Sticks well.

Good performance , but the container won’t seal we

Joseph February 21, 2026

The glue performed very well. Cleanup very easy - rub off the dried excess glue off with your finger tips. The downside: the lid does not go back on well on the container. Be sure not to cross thread the lid, or the container won’t seal properly.

Rubber cement.

Joan April 10, 2026

The product is fine, but the bottle had loosened open and the seal around the lid was broken so unfortunately, the rubber cement had leaked out of the package. Next time I will pick it out myself in the store and make sure the lid is tight. I am requesting a refund for this.
