Ematic AT103B Digital Converter Box with LED Display and Recording Capabilities

Ematic Digital Converter Box AT 103B Perfect!! I've used the Ematic Converter Box for 7 years. They 'wear out' after 3mos-1 year and I'm still unsure why. They can 'freeze' but just need a reboot (power on/off) occasionally, but don't need to rescan the device. At the store, they are about $60. I paid $25. It's a larger size (6"x4"x2"), older models are smaller. Software is updated. Presentation is newer. Scanning speed is FAST. I got 61 channels in less than 5 minutes. Older models are slower. You'll need an antenna. Using a thumb drive, you can record your favorite shows to watch later. All things considered, I'm thrilled and saving tons of dollars without cable or streaming. I bought 2 because historical, I know this will wear out.

This might be considered a good buy. It has features you get with paid TV like DVR (PVR) & recording (HBPR). A show can be recorded manually or set ahead for a particular broadcast. Recording is via the usb port which I use with a flash drive. The instructions claim you have up to seven days of program scheduling but I find it ranges from a few hours to less than 12 hours. In order to see all the options for the features at the bottom of the screen I have to remember to set my TV on 'normal' screen ratio and the converter box ratio on 'auto.' Otherwise take notes so you know what to push for a particular feature if the screen ratio cuts off the feature options until you memorize them. I have a roof antenna so I do get great reception. It is complicated to set up and figure out how to use its features because the manual is severely lacking in detail. When setting the screen ratio I pushed the wrong option and got a black & white screen that rolled super fast. It took almost 24 hrs to sort it out on my own. Customer service via the 800 number - the phone was never answered in the 20 minutes I spent getting sent back to the main menu and re-selecting the tech support option. I tried another company number and spoke to a non-support person who assured me I would receive a call by the end of the day but never did. The product does not exist on the website. There is an email support option on the website somewhere which I haven't tried yet. I have managed to sort out most of my difficulties and am saving the rest of my questions to submit at one time. I hope email support is functional. The company information is missing from the manual - not so much as a company name, number, or website address. The 800 number came from some other paper that came with the ematic and the other number came from the BBB website. This product lacks adequate instructions and customer support otherwise I would have given it excellent in all 3 categories. I recommend it with reservations for those reasons.

I ordered this unit because it they were supposed to have been good and they were wrapped but the boxes were crushed on the edges and the remote controls we're not wrapped at all and one of the controllers had food or something nasty all over it and was scuffed up and came with batteries that were dead and not wrapped. Highly dissatisfied with the handling of something like this without properly cleaning the units with all this Covic19 going on and at least replaced the dead batteries.

I received the item I ordered, AT103B, HOWEVER, it arrived in the Ematic AT103C packaging and the top of the unit has scuff/scratch marks. Granted this is on the plastic cover, but I expect to receive a brand new item with no marks on it if it is newly packaged in the correct box. It works fine, SO FAR. But concerned it's refurbished and will stop working. Pictures are included.

I purchased this from Walmart.com. It arrived on time but did not work at all. It definitely looks used and there is a piece that rattles around inside. The unit has black stickers that make it appear to be black and those were peeled up in several spots, the item also has scratches on it, the remote control is severely scratched, and the exterior box looks very old and worn out. I find it extremely disappointing to order an item online and wait for it to arrive to only find that you received a non working, used item. My mother had one of these for many years. It worked well for several years but finally quit working. She wants another one just like her old one but I am at a loss on how to do this for her because I feel like I will just get another old, broken converter box if I try to order one again. Plus if I order one today, Dec 19th, it will not arrive until Dec 29th.

Within a month and a half after purchasing the box, it just stops working

There was a lengthy delay. The normal coaxial connection was too large and not compatible with previous cable. Channel numbers don't agree but I'm ok with that.

The new converter box was sent with a bad remote control. the connection to the batteries in the remote control had been damaged from old batteries. alkaline residue had eaten into the connector.

the tv was fairly easy to set up, but I was disappointed to find that it wouldn't properly receive the local ABC station. I used 4 different antennas in two rooms and even outdoors, but it just wouldn't lock on and produce a non-pixelated picture. Returned

I have bought six of these digital converters and every one of them the power supply goes bad within a year of purchase. the Box itself works great but the power supply always goes bad and leaves you with nothing. I try to find an aftermarket power supply with no luck.
