OEM filter for 2015 Lexus ES300H
Fit well in a 2015 Lexus ES300H hybrid, Denso is the OEM manufacturer. This came with the filter, two o-ring gaskets, and a little plastic tool to drain the oil filter before removal and remove the smaller o-ring. Overall, this style of filter reduces waste, but is more labor intensive than the kind where you replace the entire filter (including housing), and just as messy. The intention is you unscrew a cover (with a standard 3/8" ratchet) to access a drain port, and use the included plastic tool to drain the filter first. It's extremely difficult to get the plastic drain tool to stay in though, and if you end up holding the tool, you still get a ton of oil on yourself. Afterwards, once you've taken off the entire filter housing, it's easier to get the plastic drain tool in, and the plastic drain tool also functions to remove the smaller o-ring gasket (the larger o-ring is for the filter housing itself). These filters are more labor-intensive to change, and in practice not much cleaner to change. I do like that there is less waste involved though.
